While people seem to talk about finding cheap 32x's in America all the time, the system goes for pretty good money over here in the UK, and have yet to find one cheap enough for me to warrant getting one until today when I stumbled across one at a car boot sale for £2.
Sadly, the system was missing it's cables, it's just the base. Can anyone tell me what the cables are I need for this? The plug is the easy part (I can use the one from my spare Mega Drive II) but I hear there's a small cable I need to plug the 32X to the mega drive (in my case a multi mega). Is it something I can easily get or is it specialized to the system?
I still need to find some games for it yet, and after all that I don't even know if the thing's going to work..but at least it didn't cost me much.
Sega 32X I grabbed cheap.
I'm sure ebay is your best bet in the UK. I've never been able to find any cables for any console that is more than 10 years old from any other site other than ebay.
You definitely need that little AV link cable thing otherwise the graphics won't render properly. You'll only get certain sprites displaying and no 3D stuff.
Also i've heard that you need a dedicated power adapter for the 32x, just using a spare megadrive one won't work apparently. I've also heard that the 32x can work without the power adapter. There was a thread about it on here not too long ago. I don't remember if they came to a conclusion though. They basically said they were going to try it and never posted results!
I love car boot sales. I remember getting a boxed SNES with starwing and a tonne of other games for £25 a few years ago. I almost died when I heard how much they wanted for it. They even chucked in the plastic crate with it in and a spare 'broken' controller. I got it home, opened the controller reset the plastic membranes and it worked.

you need the mixing cable (32x one not SCD) and it needs its own special power adapter, sure the spare one works but its way more power than it needs and youl most likely blow the thing in a couple days.GagaMan wrote:While people seem to talk about finding cheap 32x's in America all the time, the system goes for pretty good money over here in the UK, and have yet to find one cheap enough for me to warrant getting one until today when I stumbled across one at a car boot sale for £2.
