There are high res texture packs that are real easy to install.

BTW if you aren't hugely into story (even though you should be because Marathon has a pretty great story) Durandal is the best game of the trilogy.

THANKYOU! Still Doom levels, but with very clean upscaled graphics 1024x768. Marathon now plays in OSX and even with the upscale, full speed on my old 500hz iMac. Playing Marathon 2 Durandal. Ah some real maps, so many rooms to explore. :D

PC users, there are PC and Linux versions at that site.

In the photo you can see:

Dell Inspiron 9300 (It's old, but it doesn't give me many issues, and it does everything I ask of it)

Logitech Wheelman trackball (which is slowly dying on me, and is discontinued)

Nice! Like the trakball, is it USB or PS/2? Maybe the rollers need cleaning? I have the older white PS/2 version, you can remove the "marble" ball by spinning the outer ring.

Logitech Trakball attached to iMac with a USB adaptor, spare below the Commodere monitor.

Whenever I see somebody on a forum say "fake" I always think of this.

CRTGAMER,

The trackball portion works fine, but the buttons are starting to act up now. I've had it for about 5 years now, and a friend of mine used it for a couple of years before that, so not bad for a hand me down. I think I might end up replacing it with the wireless version.

No. I've found I can be more accurate with a gaming-grade mouse.
 (FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

For my use, a trackball just works better. I don't really play many games on my computer, and when I do, it's usually NES, SNES, or Genesis games using a RetroUSB adapter with an SNES controller. If I upgrade my system anytime soon though, I may have to check out one of those gaming mice, to see if it makes much of a difference for me.

I love trackballs. You can play anywhere without having to use a mousepad, must have for gaming on a recliner.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?
