A lot of people consider those ones skip-worthy. Same goes for 13 and 9, actually. 4, 6, and 7 are the only ones a majority of the FF fanbase seems to be able to agree are worth playing.Stark wrote:What about 12, 10, and 8?I Feel Asleep!! wrote:Final Fantasy 7 and loving every damn minute of it all over again. To hell with them. 9 is brilliant.BoringSupreez wrote:Same goes for 13 and 9, actually. 4, 6, and 7 are the only ones a majority of the FF fanbase seems to be able to agree are worth playing.

Dude, what? The FF fanbase loves IX and generally put it miles above VII (not that I agree with this).BoringSupreez wrote:Same goes for 13 and 9, actually. 4, 6, and 7 are the only ones a majority of the FF fanbase seems to be able to agree are worth playing.
Re: What are you playing?
Of the ones I have played, my FF best to worst list is probably like this...
1. FFIX
2. FFVI
3. FFVIII
4. FFIV
5. FFV
6. FFVII
7. FFX
8. FFXIII
9. FFXII
It's hard for me to choose where to place the ones I really enjoyed, but XII sticks out like a sore thumb as the worst one I have played with XIII a not so distant 2nd.

2. FFVI
3. FFVIII
4. FFIV
5. FFV
6. FFVII
7. FFX
8. FFXIII
9. FFXII

I wholly enjoyed X and XII. Give them a shot if you have the chance. XII is hit or miss, but X is generally accepted by most people I've spoken to as pretty good, and I agree.

Re: What are you playing?
I think FFXII is pretty awesome. It's just so damn long and purely gameplay focused for the most of it, you'll go 10+ hours with no story. I never finished it but I'd like too replay it and try to beat it someday. FFXIII on the other hand, for the 30 hour tutorial you can't go 30 minutes without getting interrupted by something.
Having just beaten FFIII on the NES, not to sound extremely fanboyish here but I think 1-10 are worth checking out. FFI-III for the diehards probably as they're just pure dungeon crawlers really, then I'd say IV-VII... somewhere in there is my favorite but I'm not sure which one. FFVI and FFVII I've beaten the most and can get picky about (having beaten them so much is probably why, lol), like I really hate some segments in FFVII (Tifa going into Cloud's mind, uggggggh) and some of the plot/characters suck, but the gameplay and atmosphere is awesome. FFVIII I've tried to replay twice but never saw those through to the end and for some reason I just don't ever feel like replaying FFIX, but I enjoyed these games a lot the first time around and did everything there is to do. FFX I don't like that much at all, but compared to a lot of JRPG's of this and last gen, it's not that bad. As much as I dislike FFX I think it's a far better game than FFXIII. Damn good Uematsu score too.
That was super annoying to type by the way.
Now this is disturbing, having just beaten 5 FF's back to back, but ... I am craving more. Can anyone recommend some SNES RPG's that have the same kind of gameplay, mechanics, and whatnot? I'm talking dead on similar here with the aesthetics and all, so I'm maybe leaning towards Treasure of the Rudras or something. I might just break down and replay FFVI again, though I feel like it'd be nice to hit up something new.
Yeah, I can't believe I'm saying it, but I'm still craving more games like the old ones right now.

I want to try Treasure of the Rudras...
I think Lufias are fairly similar, though with some weaker graphics. Or the BOFs are always fun

Re: What are you playing?
Funny, I'm watching some videos of Lufia 1-2 at the moment. Would it be weird to play Lufia 2 first? Since I hear that one is a prequel to Lufia 1.
But yeah Treasure of the Rudras and maybe Romancing SaGa 3 are other idea's. I think I definitely might check out Lufia 2 though.
