Well, I'ma help the poor boy out and throw out a suggestion, feel free to critic or append to my advice as you see fit fellow racketeers.

Intel or AMD? I'm an Intel kind of guy myself, so I'll make you a build based on intel stuffs:

CPU/Mobo/Ram/Hdd/PSU ($500):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.722559

Mid-tower Antec 300 case ($75):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042

GTX 460 1GB OC ($160 - 30 rebate):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133326

Total: $735 before rebate (Price rounded up to estimate tax and shipping costs)

Hits your $800 budget, you get a 8 core i7, 8GB ram, 2TB HDD, GFX card with built in HDMI out (with 3D support! OOOoooOhhHh  ) and a case big enough to hold all of it.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

I'ma play the devil and critic my own suggestion:

"But that mobo only has 2 ram slots, and only 1 PCI slot!"

Good point, didn't notice that. If you are okay with a weaker CPU (i7 is sorta over kill for gaming. You COULD get away with a Core 2 Duo for gaming if you wanted to), may I suggest this?:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.722618

I5 intel proc, 4GB ram, nice mobo, case, psu, GTX 560 1 GB, 500GB hdd
All for $700 shipped, not a bad deal.

Something to consider with that first combo deal is that it's "only" got a savings of around $35.

Go with an i5 2500k for $220 instead of a $300 i7 2600, and you can work in a decent Z68 board (not your only choice) for $120 or so ...and the combined total is similar to the bundle cost if you get the same RAM/HDD.

Or the second bundle linked would be better.

The i5 2500K is really the current bang/buck CPU, since it's quite overclockable and the main thing you lose from the i7 is hyperthreading (which is a moot point for games).

If you have a Microcenter near you, they have in-store prices for CPUs that tend to be great deals. i5 2500K is $180 instead of the $220 it is on Newegg.

The first two post of this thread are extremely helpful:

They even include a $600 dollar build that is pretty good. Look it over, see if its for you. Just an all round helpful thread. I consulated it when I was upgrading an old pre-built dell earlier this year.

That computer looks really good. Now could I put the first one on this page in it?

I also still want to run my computer to my TV or a monitor through a HDMI cable. Does that computer support that?

The video card included in that bundle has a mini-HDMI port, but comes with an adapter to full-size HDMI. It should hook to your TV as readily as hooking up to a monitor.

The motherboard included has both several PCIe slots, and USB 3.0, so either variant of the video editing solution you linked should work fine as well.
