Guilty Gear count? Anything with a decent bass line, even metal, really adds to the likes of Street Fighter, KOF et al. Bonus points for trumpets, though.

I'll often do this on car rides. I'll keep the music on my handheld off and listen to what my parents have playing.

I would say that about 95% of the time I play handhelds it's with the music off. My PSP gets the most use for the hour before I go to sleep. I usually climb in bed, play something for a bit while listening to whatever my wife might put on the TV and wait to get sleepy.

BTW, balasubbie's Guilty Gear was a great answer. What an excellent series of game music. WHICH of the games came with bonus soundtracks?
