Well, my bro's copy of Tales of the Abyss has been setting on my PS2 for over a year now, and I haven't finished it.
The storyline is good, but the battle system can fall into a button-mashing craze, or running around big enemies to draw away attention. There are side-story quests that you lose track of easily, and COOKING!? Which I never figured out about the draw of it.
SO, how should I approach the game? I have already seen the anime adaption, so I do know the ending.

You rang?
Anyway, I have to say that the 3rd quarter of the game does get bogged down by a lot of back-and-forth traveling that gets tedious, but the last quarter of the game, and more specifically, the last level, is so cool that it is still more than worth the time you put into it. Also, try messing around with the settings for battles or switch to a different character to spice things up when you get bored. You might find that the other characters are more fun to control than just Luke.

Well, what about cooking? I did get a skit about Nat's poor cooking skill, as well as Ashe's; never appealed to me at all, as you already have fruit gels that you can use, plus the ingredients for cooking can drain your funds.

Well, today I just returned the game to my bro, after borrowing it for over a year. Man, got so many JRPGs - I need to get back to Persona 3 FES and 4; didn't finish the Answer for 3 FES, and didn't get the "True" ending (damn it
).
No, I won't delete the save file on my memory card, just maybe one day, I will finish the game.
