It means that a bunch of sweaty, muscle bound men slapped each other a few times before they collapsed onto the ground in a passionate embrace. And his guy embraced the hardest!lisalover1 wrote:...I don't know what those words mean.Metal Militia wrote:Smile: UFC 134 was fucking awesome!!! Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Are you insinuating that this is in some way homo-erotic?Flake wrote:It means that a bunch of sweaty, muscle bound men slapped each other a few times before they collapsed onto the ground in a passionate embrace. And his guy embraced the hardest!

My boyfriend came over today, which usually puts a smile on my face. But I cooked a dish I never tried before and he really liked it.

SMILE! Some incredible news came in the mail today but I'm hoping someone can maybe clear this up who's also dealt with hospital bills and the likes. For those of you who remember that massive surgery bill that hit me... well after a week of calls and loads of paperwork, a month or two later I finally heard back on assistance regarding the Physician bill, and I'm just going to quote it without the absolute specifics: "We have discounted your current balance by 100% which totals X".
So from what my mom was saying, they have completely written off the physician part of the hospital bill, which was one of the biggest dents in it for sure. That takes about 1/4th of it off which is amazing news.
However the even weirder thing here, is that the X amount of money mentioned on this statement is about $1,500 more than what the physician bill actually is. Can anyone potentially clarify on what that could mean? I'm clueless as is my mom, but maybe my dad will know later today. Is it possible that the excess amount of money here will knock off other bills from the total?
That said I'm now waiting to hear some (hopefully good!) more news regarding assistance with the main hospital bill. Hopefully I get that this week as well and maybe that'll explain more.
Phew! Really put a nice dent in that debt, I'm very happy to hear that. Just kind of weird what the extra money on this paperwork could mean. But from what it sounds like, I'm free from the physician bill/statements.
Ticked: Well, that weird security desk job I got is kind of in limbo. No idea if it's going to work out, but I'm crossing my fingers to hear back from other places this week or I'll make some calls soon. I finally buckled down and went for the basics of basics, simple jobs and some of them I have connections with some good referrals so I hope that helps.

Man, hospital and doctor's bills are completely fucked. This is the first time I've heard about your surgery bill, but I could only imagine the shit that you went through with it.
A couple of years back I had to get a cyst removed. They decided to inform me two days before my scheduled surgery (which I was waiting a month for!) that my insurance wasn't going to cover it. I got this news at work, the last day I was working before being off for a few weeks to recover. So I was stressing at work making calls to the hospital, the doctor, and whatnot trying to figure things out. What it comes down to is just about the biggest scam in the world.
I felt like I was talking to a used car salesman when I was on the phone with the hospital. The price of the room was $2,000. I told them I couldn't afford it. They dropped it to $1,500 and I told them I'd have to think about it. The next day, they called me before 8AM to tell me they could do it for $1,200. They literally woke me up with the call, we made plans for me to call them at 9AM. So on the phone I was like, "Uhhh, I don't know" and the lady was like "Well how about 1,100? Can you do it for that?" And it's like, how much lower can you go? When you step back and think about it, I'm negotiating the price of a room for maybe an hour. This room is needed for me to continue my life in good health. Yet I feel like I'm negotiating the price on a car. I'm about to walk away from the deal the and salesman is like, "Hold on, wait a minute, how about if I wave the DMV fees?"
Anyway, that was just one of many bullshit things I had to deal with regarding this surgery. So I could only imagine all the shit you had to deal with.

^ My favorite bill is the one from the consultants. I had an issue, saw the doctor, he orders an ultrasound, another appointment w/the doc, case closed.
I got (2) bills from the doctor (one for each visit).
I got (2) bills from the clinic he works out of.
I got (1) bill from the ultrasound department in the same clinic.
Then came the kicker, I get a bill from "Consulting Radiologists" for $221. I call them up and say i've never been to their state, etc, never heard of them. They say, Dr. XXXX contracted them to read my ultrasound! This doctor was paid TWICE by me and he has to contract someone to read the test? Very frustrating.
I'll say this however, I work in a hospital, and there is so much money spent ancillary to direct patient care. Human Resources, administration, housekeeping, nutrition services, risk management, patient advocacy, chaplaincy, medical records, billing, admissions, lab, pathology, etc and etc. We have almost 3,000 employees, but only 35% are nursing / physicians, so keep that part in mind about the cost of good medical care.
Also, the number of drunks/homeless/indigent who come in for care and require stitches, cat scans, surgeries and those bills simply are not reimbursed, so those costs have to be dumped on someone - you and I, those w/money and/or health insurance. Sad but true.
