Re: Confessions of an Adult Poke-addict
I am in my late twenties also, but I never cared about a game being kiddy or not, so I was trying to see what the craze was all about. I bought Pokemon Yellow and was honestly incredibly annoyed by the game. I played all the way to the final boss, got bored and quit. That isn't something I do very often. I was just underwhelmed by it and in the coming years I began to resent Pokemon because I felt like Nintendo was relying too heavily on them, and I really just wanted to see the Gamecube succeed!
Re: Confessions of an Adult Poke-addict
My brother is 27 now, and has been playing pokemon since the boom. He has a insanely strong team, he's been in Pokemon tournaments and done pretty well!
He's married now. A beautiful woman has accepted my brother for the poke-maniac he is and wants to share her life with him! Shit's crazy.
But seriously dude don't feel bad for liking something at your age. Grow older, don't grow up.

I dunno.. looks like a green headband he's holding - as if he's trying to join them.. Then again, why am I trying to rationalize a 90's pop-culture mashup painting so seriously..??

Ha, I didn't notice the head band and put two and two together.. well, with irrational rationalization continuing.. it appears he is trying to join them but they're just going "aw, wittle squirtle pokeman wants to be a ninja tuwtle" ... and then the Foot attacks and all that remains standing are the green machines

As long as his vocabulary is expanded to "pizza," I'm sure he'll be just fine.. But what would his ninja weapon be? Kinda slim pickin's...
Maybe Buddhist zen..?

Re: Confessions of an Adult Poke-addict
Woohoo! This thread has been revived! (Edit: that pun was seriously unintended.)
Gold is my favorite version, and when my GB cartridge died in college I successfully installed a new battery using tweezers and a glue gun. I like to think this make me hardcore.
Nowadays I use the pokéradar in Pearl/Platinum to capture shiny pokémon. I am good at this and have caught 58 different species in their alternate colorings to date. There is a surprisingly substantial community of people out there who engage in this and other techniques for "shiny hunting," as it's called, and many of them upload their exploits on YouTube. I tend to be a bit older than they are. They are generally 1) thirteen years old or 2) in their freshman year of college. I think it's interesting, actually, that so many of these shiny hunters are in their late teens.
I work at a public library and have broken a few parents' minds by talking fluently with their young children about the Munna or Celebi plushies they're toting. They're always astounded that Pokémon debuted in the U.S. so long ago, when I was about twelve.
I'll be 26 in a month, am a lady-type, and have loved the Pokémon games since Red and Blue. Although pokémon is reportedly equally popular with girls as boys, I find it's hard enough to find pokémon fans my age, period, without bringing gender into the equation.YoshiEgg25 wrote:That's crazy. As someone who's been in the Pokémon community for three and a half years, I have NEVER seen any females at that age play.

I've only done that once, to get a shiny Ralts. I found the whole process far too frustrating to do unless there was something I was shooting for.Key-Glyph wrote:Nowadays I use the pokéradar in Pearl/Platinum to capture shiny pokémon. Anyway, I might start using the front page of my site for Pokemon news. Probably won't be as in-depth as you'd see on Serebii or even Bulbanews, but mostly just the big stuff. I'd like to hear any opinions on that.
