*sigh*

Still waiting on Gamestop to call me to come pick up my copy.

I may call them later today to see if it's even been shipped from that other store yet.

honestly man, the writing is hilarious. There's so many little inside jabs at the various companies and games. It's great.

Here's something funny.

Gamespot gave the game a 3/10. One of the reasons was "Characters are disturbingly sexualized caricatures of young girls".

Yet Gamespot gave Grand Theft Auto IV a 10/10. A game that lets you get some "special attention" from women at a "gentlemen's club".

pretty much every review I've read of HN has been horrible. The game really has a bad reputation -- the oversexualiazed thing included. I don't really get it. Lots of JRPG's are full of sexy anime. And this game is basically a huge parody of JRPG's so....

Most reviews/opinions I've read are more along the line that, as a game, it's terrrible, and the translation/humor is about the only reason to play it.

I would say that the gameplay itself is good. It's not great, but it's not terrible. It's a pretty standard JRPG in all honesty. But the dialogue and story makes the game great.

I read the Gamespot review again and from what I can tell they mostly hate the game because it's a (mostly) traditional rpg. Go to dungeon, grind, repeat. Unless you like the genre you can't really write an objective review of the game for the rpg-lover.

That's the gaming world today. People can't wrap their minds around the idea of having to level up to progress; much less get into random battles!

The most common complaint I see today is "why are there random battles? I should be able to walk past enemies!"

Why? You're going to have to train anyway. You might as well fight common enemies.
(end rpg rant  )

I'm glad we still have companies that'll make games like they used to be.

Well, I don't just mean mainstream reviews. I mean commentary on other forums (from people playing bunches of other RPGs), or things like RPGamer who are probably going into a JRPG knowing what to expect.
