playing actual sega cd games on an emulator

Post by final fight cd »

http://www.fantasyanime.com/emuhelp/emuhelp_kfusion.htm

about half way down on the above link it reads that you can play actual sega cd games using kega fusion:

If you're going to play an actual Sega CD game or CD-R copy:

1. Insert the game into your CD-ROM. Wait a little bit for Windows to do its thing with it. Close the "what do you want to do with this CD?" window if it pops up.
2. Go to the File menu then Boot SegaCD.
3. You will arrive to the screen you see toward the right. Just press start as it says and the game will play

i can't get any copies to run. has anybody successful done this? is it even possible?

some may think it is weird that i want to use an emulator to play physical copies. i, however, don't have a ram cart and some games require the extra ram. i thought i could bypass this by running it on an emulator.
if you took a shit, please put it back

I have yes and I had the same issue that you have - To load from a disk you have to tell it which drive to use (even if you only have one it wont default to it). I dont have fusion on this PC but its set in the config/settings menu somewhere

My Kega Fusion doesn't even have a button for booting CDs.

Nope, there's nothing there. Only "Load Sega CD image".

if you're using fusion for mac, there is no "boot from CD" function for scd games.

That's what I assumed. Fortunately, I was able to download .BIN and .CUE files for all the games I have. Even if I didn't, I could still make .ISOs of the original CDs, so I don't really miss the function.
