This sounds mostly like the other alcohol threads. Anyway, I don't know what specifies a girly drink. I drank a margarita a couple months ago that was pink and tasted like sugar mixed with krispy kreme glaze mixed with more sugar. It was called a cactus margarita, and I therefore expected it to be green and not taste shitty.

I don't like beer, wine, and I don't like the taste of alcohol. So I guess everything I drink is girly.

There's a drink called liquid marijuana I got once that I liked. But thus far haven't found another place that knows how to make it and I don't particularly like listing ingredients when ordering a drink.

1/2 oz. Rum, spiced (Captain Morgan's)
1/2 oz. Curacao, blue
1/2 oz. Rum, coconut (Malibu)
1/2 oz. Liqueur, melon (Midori)
Fill with Pineapple Juice
1 splash Sour Mix

Anybody know any types of drinks like that that I can order pretty much anywhere and not get weird looks when I order them/drink them?

Some people think any mixed drink is a girly drink. I think James Bond would beg to differ ;)

I think "girly drinks" are the overly-fruity, overly-colorful drinks with sometimes elaborate or embarassing names. That doesn't mean I won't occasionally drink a Sloe Comfortable Screw if I feel like it though. :P

I never understood this. I now work at a gas station selling alcohol, and I see guys come up with Bud Light, Miller Light, Coors Light, Natural Light, etc., far more often than I see someone grab a simple Budweiser. But why? It's not like these guys are trying to watch their weight or something. And Bud Light's not cheaper than Bud. Why drink it?

To answer the question, I honestly can't say I've had too many girly drinks. In fact I can't remember any of them. The closest I can come up with is a drink called a Urine Sample, which tasted exactly like its name. I'd just rather have a beer I guess.

Light beer is great for drinking all day while fishing, doing yard work, "honey do" lists... without getting hammered, that's why it sells so well.

This thread is the perfect opportunity to settle a disagreement I had with one of my professors. While out to lunch, I ordered a whiskey sour. My professor, Jack, criticized me for ordering an "old lady" drink. Do any of my fellow racketeers consider a whiskey sour girly or an "old lady" drink?

Misconception. Light beer has just as much alcohol as regular beer; it simply has fewer calories. Because of the fewer calories, one can drink light beer without getting sleepy quite so quickly. This allows the drinker to stay awake longer to get drunker.
Shame that light beer doesn't taste very good.

How does it have less calories, but the same alcohol content? The alcohol's where the calories come from.

Because he is wrong. Light beer typically has 3-4.5% abv. "Regular" beer generally has 5-6% abv.

I don't understand Americans fixation with light beer. Whimps. Come to Australia and drink real shitty beer. It may taste like vomit, but its strong.
Actually I only really drink European beer :P And Coronas.

We have plenty of strong beer in America that doesn't taste like shit, so it is all good.

However, I have had some of those European style strong lagers and they taste awful. A good (bad?) example of the style is Cisk XS Extra Lager.

Okay skeptics, let me rephrase that more specifically.
Light beer does not have just as much alcohol as regular beer. Light beer has about eighty-four percent as much alcohol as its regular counterpart.
However, Light beer only has seventy-four percent as many calories as its regular counterpart. The different is in reduced carbohydrates. The reduced calories allows the drinker to drink longer thereby consuming more alcohol.

By comparison, 1 oz shot of vodka has only forty-five percent as many calories as a 12 oz bottle o' beer. Apples and oranges, right?

Now, enough of this dietician talk. The topic I'm much more interested in is this:
Is whiskey sour a girly drink?

You got it. :D

Since you don't like the taste of alcohol (beer, wine, and I'll presume anything else too like sake, vodka, etc) then probably the best you can "get away with" would be something like a screwdriver, or a greyhound, or whatever a cranberry & vodka would be called. While those are all vodka, if you haven't had it before, IMO good vodka is smooth and doesn't have the typical alcohol taste so that could work for you possibly. My friend (a dude) typically ordered those in the states and never got funny looks as if he ordered a totally girly drink.
