Home Theather Help

Post by seanami »

I got some scart cables for various systems and got a CVS287 like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SCART-RGB-Y ... 3362ac0577

I have tried plugging it into my TV and it gives random pattern like this
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/52 ... 62505.jpg/
Sometime filling the whole screen and sometimes not.

I have also tried plugging it into my DVDO Edge Green and then into the TV and the screen remains black with the DVDO Edge Green saying the Video Format is Unsupported Signal.

Help?

From the DVDO Edge Green's datasheet

http://www.image.ag/images/stories/prod ... asheet.pdf

Video Input

One Component (YPbPr or RGB/S) processes 480i/p-60, 576i/p-50, 720p-50/60,
1080i-50/60, 1080p-60

• One Component/RGBHV (YPbPr/RGBS/RGBHV) processes 480i/p60, 576i/p-50,
720p-50/60, 1080i-50/60, 1080p-60, VGA/SVGA/XGA/SXGA@60Hz

That's your problem. Neither your TV nor the DVDO Edge is capable of accepting a 240p signal over component.

Try a difference processor, or look up if your TV can take RGB over VGA at 240p, then get a simple SCART to VGA converter.

I also believe there some other devices, line doublers and such that get the signal to something your TV can accept, however; I have no idea what all this tinkering with the picture will do to the quality.

Consumer televisions contemporary to the consoles OP is likely talking about did not (and do not) accept progressive signals. Because of that, those old consoles would output at 480i and 480i only. 240p is the signal alot of old games are processed at internally until they're converted to 480i. You would need a scan converter to change the signal to 240p. Since OP doesn't seem to be using a scan converter, it isn't the problem.

Help?
Some clarity
List of consoles and make and model number of the TV. Take a look at the CRT vs LCD thread at my signature link.
