Shadows of the Damned
I think this game deserves its own thread. It's fucking awesome! I'm still early in the game, but I love how weird, wacky and twisted the underworld is and the main character and his sidekick just ooze charisma. Garcia is like a cross between Desperado's Antonio Banderas and Devil May Cry's Dante. Johnson is like your typical funny British character and is a nice counter to Garcia's serious attitude. It's really because of how much I like these two characters that I want to keep pushing forward just to hear what cool or funny thing they'll say next
The darkness mechanic is cool. When you're surrounded by darkness, you're weakened and enemies become invincible. You need light to keep yourself alive in this game or to use against the demons. I like the different ways the game plays around with this and it's really what gives the game its most intense moments
I see so many influences in this game, intentional or not. It's brings to mind grindhouse movies, God Hand, the Evil Dead movies, the Mariachi movies from Rodriguez, and more than anything else, Resident Evil 4. There are cool references too, like an enemy that looks like pyramind head from Silent Hill and a trophy that references an obscure Michael Jackson song that I'm rather fond of

An awesome gem that I really enjoyed!! I really wish it would have sold better and been played by more people. It really is different and unique in tone and atmosphere compared to many other shooters.Gamerforlife wrote:I think this game deserves its own thread. It's fucking awesome! I want it really bad, but I'm waiting for a sale or price drop. Had it not come out so close to Catherine I would've bought it.

This game is definitely on my wishlist.
Re: Shadows of the Damned
Totally agree with everything you say. I loved this game from start to finish. Anyone teeter-tottering wither to get it or not, just DO SO! Amazing game! I really hope they make a sequel. I hear it sold quite poorly, but one can hope!Gamerforlife wrote:I think this game deserves its own thread. It's fucking awesome!
