But Dave specifically said cabs that had a trackball, not ones that a trackball will work as a spinner in mame.

^This. Sorry CRT, can't add those others to the master list. They weren't arcade cabs that had trackballs.Hobie-wan wrote:But Dave specifically said cabs that had a trackball, not ones that a trackball will work as a spinner in mame.
Re: What are the best arcade trackball games?
Okay, just thought any Trakball compatible game would fit the bill. I guess the only one on the previous Reply would be Reactor, but it did come out on the 2600. So many very good Arcade games in Mame that not ported waiting to be discovered.Hobie-wan wrote:But Dave specifically said cabs that had a trackball, not ones that a trackball will work as a spinner in mame.
Strange that "Spinner Control" Peggle Arcade uses a trakball.
I found Wiki to be of help to find Home Ports, that's how I discovered Tac Scan hidden on the PS2 Genesis Collection.

What do you mean by "Spinner Control"?CRTGAMER wrote:

I am talking about this, not the PopCap Games Peggle: http://www.arcade-history.com/?n=peggle ... il&id=1943
Re: What are the best arcade trackball games?
I know, a completely different form of game play. Spin the field instead of the aimer. There is only left-right control with the Trakball easily worked with my Spinner in Mame. Maybe a "Pong" knob wouldn't have been appealing in the Arcade cab, the reason for the Trakball or Joystick?dsheinem wrote:What do you mean by "Spinner Control"?CRTGAMER wrote:Strange that "Spinner Control" Peggle Arcade uses a trakball.

I am not sure what your question is here. The Peggle cabinet had a trackball.CRTGAMER wrote: Maybe a "Pong" knob wouldn't have been appealing in the Arcade cab, the reason for the Trakball or Joystick?

Try it in Mame - Trakball or Joystick romdsheinem wrote:I am not sure what your question is here. The Peggle cabinet had a trackball.CRTGAMER wrote: Maybe a "Pong" knob wouldn't have been appealing in the Arcade cab, the reason for the Trakball or Joystick?
Agree the cabinet does have a Trakball as well as a Joystick. The game only plays with left and right movement, the Arcade cab could have been marketed with a Spinner. Perhaps they felt the Trakball would have better appeal.
One to add to the OP
Try Reactor when you get a chance, a great Trakball game. Just feed a quarter, don't start right away and enjoy the vibes.

Re: What are the best arcade trackball games?
Even though I think you are looking for trackball specific games, The Grid and Outtrigger both used a Joystick and trackball setup:

Re: What are the best arcade trackball games?
I remember playing a Track & Field cabinet way back in the mid 80s that used a trackball for Run instead of the 2 buttons most commonly seen. Made it a LOT easier.
EDIT: Found the control panel that used it!

Atari Football - Move the Xs and Os around frantically spinning the ball.
Maybe not the best, but a good early Trakball game.
