That's funny you should mention Modesto because I just went there a few times in the past few weeks! My cousin lives in Newman and since it's a small town with not much there we bounce between Turlock and Modesto when we go places to hang out.dunpeal2064 wrote:Oh nice! There is a serious lack of gamers in Modesto, and not a single shmup arcade cab to be found

Oh cool! Did you guys visit the mall in Modesto? I live abot 2 minutes from there.
If only you had been here Saturday, they were showing Return of the Jedi on a 35 mm projector at the State theatre. It was great fun

We went to a mall, not sure what it was called but it's most likely the one you're talking about. It's a two story one. As far as movies go, we watched 30 Minutes or Less in Turlock on another day.dunpeal2064 wrote:Oh cool! Did you guys visit the mall in Modesto? I live abot 2 minutes from there.

I really need to put some time into Progear. Lately for me its been a lot of Border Down and Fast Striker on the DC Agetek stick. Its so much nicer than that d-pad.

I hate playing shmups with controllers, unless I have to. I recently picked up a HORI saturn stick for Xmen vs Street fighter, but I also use it for Darius Gaiden and Galactic Attact. I want Dodonpachi so badly! The mame rom is great, but I want to own a physical copy.dunpeal2064 wrote:SeriouslyBradtemple87 wrote:dunpeal2064 wrote: not a single shmup arcade cab to be found

Shmups are fun on a Saturn controller, IMO.

I like both and I would prefer arcade sticks unless I'm playing with a Saturn or Genesis controller. Sega always had the best D-pads save for the SMS one. The Dreamcast one is even better than the Playstation D-Pad but I'd probably prefer an arcade stick over the DC D-pad.hashiriya1 wrote:Shmups are fun on a Saturn controller, IMO.

I love the Saturn d-pad (model 2 I think) but I am not a fan of the dc d-pad. The way the controller rounds out makes it stick up, and doing back-left moves starts to hurt. That agetek stick though, super clean.
So does that mean we'll have shmups at this meet?
I can always bring some
