i'm working on my sega CD collection

what are the must-have games? I especially like action-adventure and puzzle-adventure games.

also, does the sega CD have any non-linear adventure games like metroid?

Stay away from the FMV games!

most of them are crappy!

you know that you can burn games too. helps you decide which one you really do want to buy.

but I dont think you'll do this, you look like a purist!

metroid-like games don't exist outside of the metroidvania games and the original metroid games.

beat-em up:
final fight cd

shmup:
lords of thunder
keio flying squadron (pronounced KAY-o)
robo aleste

adventure:
popful mail
heart of the alien
dungeon explorer

text:
snatcher

for the most part, those are pretty much the "exclusives." exclusive in quotes because i am pretty sure all but maybe keio and robo aleste first made its appearance on other consoles. then you have a shit ton of sega ports. i actually find the added cd quality sound to add an extra element of enjoyment to games.
if you took a shit, please put it back

Here's my list:

Android Assault: The Revenge of Bari Arm
Earthworm Jim: Special edition
Ecco the Dolphin
Eternal Champions
Final Fight CD
Flashback: Quest for Identity
Flink
Heart of the Alien
Lunar: Eternal Blue
Lunar: Silver Star Story
Night Trap
Panic!
Popful Mail
Rise of the Dragon
Road Avenger
Secret of Monkey Island
Shining Force CD
Snatcher
Sonic CD
The Terminator
Vay

There's also a homebrew Sonic game called Sonic Megamix that I'd also recommend checking out. It's really fun and it's free.

Jurassic Park is a pretty cool point and click adventure game.

Ecco the Dolphin for the music alone.

I second the Terminator. That game is hard as ballz but the music is awesome.

As for FMV games I love them, like how only a father can love his serial killer son way. I see all the flaws but I still love them. Especially Double Switch. Quite possibly the best FMV evar!

Here's list I wrote of the games I'm looking to get or have and why:

http://gamingthroughtheages.blogspot.co ... ga-cd.html

The list is somewhat RPG-heavy, but also has some shmups, platformers, and a couple FMV games.

I might go back at some point and add Final Fight CD and some of the enhanced audio games such as Ecco the Dolphin onto the list.
