could i put a larger amount of internal memory into the saturn, perhaps load games onto it even, same with dreamcast

even if you do it, software will not take advantage of the extra memory... console software are not like their PC equivalent.

darn, well what about a vmu, couldnt i technically increase memory in that?

ha, no. the VMU is just for saved games the dreamcast doesn't use it as RAM.

Are you messing with us here or being serious? No offense, but this be crazy talk! : )

I don't think he's talking about system memory (RAM), but hard drive (a misnomer as there is no drive...) memory. And no, not gonna happen really. If you figure out how to do it please let us know, because it is probably in the realm of people with very small and steady hands who are very good with a soldering gun. As for increasing VMU memory, there's all kinds of third party cards that hold way more data...

You can make a VMU have about 40 extra blocks with Dream Explorer, it works great.

When asking questions you may want to use the correct terms, memory refers to ram, I'm assuming you were talking about some kind of internal storage like a harddrive which the DC has none. It is not possible even if you could create some kind of IDE to link a harddrive you would still need very advanced programming knowledge to make it useful
