Have you ever had a tall stack of unplayed games?

Post by Pichu »

Mostly current gen gaming, since being a collector means you're going to have plenty of yet-to-be-played games. But particularily around holiday seasons nowadays, have you ever bought so many titles in one short period, they just end up sitting there sealed and intimidating?

I ask this as we approach another holiday season with publishers packing so many games into September-November, and this could also apply if you got multiple games for Christmas/some other holiday. Plus, sales crop up all the time, and you just have to have that game? Or it's so niche that you don't want to risk a jacked up price in the future?

For me, I got Kirby's Epic Yarn, Metroid: Other M, PokéPark Wii, de Blob 2, Opoona, Enslaved, and Kameo waiting to be played, and that's just current gen.

*Also, apoligies if there's already a thread on this, a quick search with some keywords didn't show anything.

The most I've ever had is two or three at a time.

Whenever I get a large amount of games in one go the way you're describing, I make it a point to tackle them all so they don't sit untouched and I feel like a jackass for paying whatever price.

Kidding aside, that is how I approach it, so I never really have a backlog.

I have about 5 or so games I've never touched, and they aren't bad ones either (Spyro 2, Metroid Prime 3, etc.) I just don't have time to play every game I buy, and so I just play the ones that interest me the most.

I rarely have a stack of unplayed games at all. I was always the rip-the-box-open-on-the-way-home type -- but even after a decent acquisition, I feel like I need to dig in fairly quickly.

I'm pretty sure I own more games I haven't played than games I have.

Well, this way, if I ever get into a situation in which I can't buy any new games for an extended period of time, I'll still have new things to play.

Exactly. I buy all the games I think I want to play, but just don't have the time to play. I think I shop for and talk about games more than I play them these days.
