Yeah, I don't want to see Cody as a face. So they need to be careful there. He's in his element as a heel. It works for him
What do you guys think of what they are doing with Zack Ryder? What would you guys do with him? I have some ideas of what I would do with him if I worked for the WWE. I want to see him paired with a diva, but I'm talking about a diva with personality, charisma and mic skills. I think Layla would be a perfect fit for him. She's got more personality than the whole diva division combined and it shouldn't be wasted. Her personality would mesh well with the Ryder gimmick. You could do a lot of fun stuff with those two together
I also would want the WWE to start plugging his youtube show on air by showing clips from it, having the announcers put it over and talk about how popular it is. Bring that casual crowd to his shows on youtube. Get some good babyfaces like Orton and Cena to appear on it once in a while. I'm sure Punk would be up for that as well. I would also want Ryder to call himself the internet champ on tv and put over all of his twitter and youtube fans, as well as the rest of the WWE universe of course. The announcers would need to call him the internet champ as well, because that's how you get stuff like that ingrained in people's minds. Every top guy needs a cool nickname like the Viper, The Ultimate Opportunist or the Internet champ in Ryder's case
I think I would book him in the midcard, give him some good wins with Layla always accompanying him to a ring, all the while having them do some funny backstage stuff that Ryder and Layla would be allowed to come up with themselves with no interference from WWE creative. Eventually, some heel attacks Layla and then Ryder would start up a good feud from that. Book him as the underdog against a tough heel and have him fighting for his girl's honor. I would also have him team up with Santino and give them a run with the tag titles. Might as well put your top comedy guys together and people like comedy duo tag teams. Just think back to the popularity of Edge and Christian in the old days or Too Cool.
I also would give Ryder one of those in ring talk shows like Jericho and MVP used to do. He could use it to get a good rub from top babyfaces by having them as quests. I think it would also be great to have him interview a heel and piss the heel off by mentioning all of their flaws in a humorous way. "That was a great win you had over the champ last week. I mean you pulled the tights to do it and I know my Broski of the week could beat you in a fair fight, but hey you got a victory right?" The heel would flip out, toss over some furniture. Ryder's like, "Are you serious bro?". Then the heel would start beating him down, Ryder would make a come back while the crowd pops, but the heel would turn the tables on him. Then you have your top babyface, Orton I guess, run out and make the save. Then you could maybe have some tag team match with Ryder and your top guy versus that heel and some other heel.
You do all that stuff for like a year, then you give Ryder money in the bank and you can figure out the rest from there
