White Egg vs Brown Egg - Which is the Superior Egg?
Sorry, I know I created the yolk conversation and after reading, the yolk is an essential part of the egg that should not be ignored.
Anyways, this topic is on the egg shell, I went to Kroger's today and purchased Eggland's best, I no longer want to purchase Spartan brand eggs ( off-brand state eggs ) So I purchased the white ones and I looked over and seen the brown ones which are $1 more.
confused about this, i come on here and ask, what's the difference between brown eggs and white eggs on why they're much more? Personally, I believe it's just a marketing plan to show that these eggs are just a different color, so we're going to charge more.

From what I have heard there is no nutritional difference between the eggs, only color. They come from to different breeds of chickens and supposedly the chicken breed that lays brown eggs eat more which is the reasoning for cost difference.
A lot of people think brown eggs are better because a lot of home growers lay brown eggs and their diet being different makes them taste different. My mother use to raise chickens for eggs. Some were blue/green and red also, but they all seemed to taste the same. They did taste different then store bought, not neccerily better but healthier is the only way I can describe the taste.

Yeah, I hear that the reason behind that is because the ones that lay the brown eggs are larger chickens and therefore it costs more money to feed them to lay their eggs. Makes no sense to me, but I think it's medical pop science doing their black magic again like they did with egg yolk.

I think you have an unhealthy obsession with eggs.

Outlaw all the eggs that come from between the legs.

I had a chicken that laid turquoise-colored eggs. The color doesn't really matter. It's all about what you feed the chicken that determines the health of the egg.
It should also be noted that egg color also comes from differences in a chicken's breed.

Thank you, honestly, what I was going to do was start a topic on milk which I think I will do in my next topic. Thanks guys for clearing this up.
conclusion: doesn't matter of the color, but cage-free chickens & ones that eat better nutrition lay better eggs than chicken mills.
