Sega Saturn 3rd party controller recommendations?

Post by DinnerX »

Official controllers are a little pricy so I'm going to buy 3rd party controllers. I've got one naktek controller now and it works just fine. I've seen several other 3rd party controllers for sale: the ST pad pro, super pad 8, and eclipse. Are any of those OK? I just want them to work consistently, they don't have to feel super nice.

official controllers are expensive? i see a few for $10-$15 on ebay and dont forget to check the japanese saturn controllers they can sometimes be cheaper as the saturn in japan was more popular u might spend more money on shipping but they look way cooler as they are bright and colorful. nothing beats an official saturn controller. ps try to get a model 2 saturn controller as they have a better D pad japanese controllers are the same as the model 2. hope this helps

Dun do it. Even if Saturn controllers are a little pricey, the expense is worth it for a solid US model 2 or 3D pad.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I'd go with the model 2 since it has an amazing d-pad and worth the extra $$$. From the 3rd party ones, I only used the super 8 and thought it was decent; d-pad had a feel that is a cross of a genesis and dreamcast d-pad, shoulder buttons felt like snes shoulder buttons, and face buttons have a good feel to them.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm planning on getting 10 controllers so that's why I want cheaper controllers.

I'm planning to get an official 3d controller at some point and I may get one official regular controller. That should cover fighting games where input precision is important. For bomberman and death tanks 3rd party controllers shouldn't matter much right?
