I'm picking up a PS3 next month. I want in on all the gaming nights everyone is doing on this forum. It's all ps3!!! There's also a decent amount of games I want to play. I have a $50 best buy giftcard and I think I can live with paying $200 for a ps3 much more than $300.

You're having quite a few of these recently, no? Sit down, relax, read the posts. When you feel confident, write your response. No one's gonna beat your post count!

Then organise more 360 events. Most people seem utter cheapasses that can't pay for xbox live, or they won't pay because they don't believe in it, or some other such nonsense. Seriously, fuck PSN. It's a piece of shit. I'm still on 3.55 FW and haven't looked back since.

As far as online multiplayer, PSN seems to work just as well if not better than Live for me. Obviously there are things like x-game chat that are missing, but I don't really care about that feature. Why would Live be a better choice for simple meetups in an FPS, brawler, fighter, etc? I am currently paying for Live after a few years of not doing so (I needed it to play online with some friends) and really cannot see the value at all. Am I missing something?

Aside from a slightly better online connection during matches Xbox Live's only differences from PSN have nothing to do with the actual games. It's things like keeping track of your friends list and stuff that makes Live more convenient.

Based on what? Wouldn't this vary from person to person, based on location and connection? I find the PSN to be just as good/laggy as Live across a variety of games. Is there some kind of study done to show the connection differences overall?

Never been on LIVE but I would presume that since it is a paid service, the servers or connections etc might be better than PSN.

(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

What I said was based on a combination of my personal experiences and from what I've heard from other people who have used both services.
