The Atelier Series
Where is the best place to start this series of games for someone who is fluent in Japanese and English?
Re: The Atelier Series
My sister played most of them on the PS2 I believe starting with one just called Atelier Iris. Mana Khemia (don't know if I spelled that correctly) games are also in the series. She told me they have no real order and you can play them however you like iirc. I never played them personally but could ask her to verify this later tonight if no one else here knows.
Re: The Atelier Series
I've only played Mana Khemia, but it's an awesome game. It's the first game in a new story arc happening in the same universe. I had no experience of the previous games and it does a great job explaining the game's mechanics while you're playing through the story and getting introduced to it's characters. I didn't even know they were the same series until I was pretty far through the game and had to consult an FAQ. I read that it has many mechanics from the Atelier Iris series but because it's newer, it adds some polish to them. It lets you change the voice actors to either English or Japanese at any time.

I'm in the same boat as anapan. Only played Mana Khemia, but I really enjoyed it. Lots of character development, which is a big hit for me personally.

Re: The Atelier Series
I played the first one Atellier Iris Eternal Mana. I liked it.
Wasnt very tough, but it was enjoyable. I enjoyed the Item syntesis part of the game. trying to find the right combinations of things to make new ones was fun.
I own the second one, but I havent played it yet!
I do want to get the other games in the series as well! Hopefully I'll find them soon.
but heres the short of it.....
just play Atellier Iris Eternal Mana!

I am quite jealous. You'll be able to play the original Marie and Elie games (Saturn and PSX respectively, though they've been ported to everything from the GBA to the DC) which from what I hear about Iris, are much more... aged.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Re: The Atelier Series
The Mana Khemia series is my favorite, so make sure to play those at some point.
Re: The Atelier Series
Anyone know off hand what happens if I transfer my Atelier Totori Plus save to Atelier Meruru Plus? I haven't really played Totori Plus much. Played the original Totori on PS3. Was wondering if it's really worth playing through Totori Plus to transfer the save before Meruru Plus.
Edit: This thread could also probably use a move to the RPG section. Unless you folks would rather I start a new thread over there?

Re: The Atelier Series
If that's the case why not just start at the beginning?baschlives wrote:Where is the best place to start this series of games for someone who is fluent in Japanese and English?
I started with one of the Atelier Iris games, because my daughter's name is Iris.
