Digging the acoustic thing dude. What do you use to record? I have an MAudio fast track, and to edit, I use an old version of Cool Edit Pro.KDub wrote:I went to school for Percussion and mostly concentrated on World Percussion. I also play Guitar and sing but I've dabbled with Trombone and Bass.
I have a solo acoustic thing: http://kevinwillingham.bandcamp.com
Kind of a mix of Ska, Punk, and Folk

Play middle eastern percussion in a band called Final Veil

Then there is my punk band Shinsplints (which is actually just recently split up)
I do however have a rough mix of one of our songs up called All Else Fails http://kdubrecords.com/index/media/
I have some of my other percussion stuff (such as lessons and solo videos) here

Musician's thread?
Re: Musician's thread?
Re: Musician's thread?
There are lots of talented musicians on this site. None of my bands did anything, but I once played a show with the Blood Brothers!
The Obelisk: my last band. lazy songwriting, low quality video. These guys were in a huge rush to play shows, and our music suffered for it. It's a shame cause everyone could really play. We quickly gathered a large local following, opened for Eyehategod on our 5th show, then imploded shortly thereafter.
Ballistic Missile: I'm not in this picture, but I am playing on the recording. Noise/punk with a crazy female singer/screamer. Toured once with a Colorado-based band named Zombie Zombie. http://www.purevolume.com/ballisticmissile
AHAB!: not to be confused with the foreign metal band. We were active before they were, and chose to keep the name since we knew we'd never do anything. Instrumental post rock, my main project for years. http://www.myspace.com/ahab
Me on acoustic bass: (That's right. I just put "me" in bold.) http://www.youtube.com/user/glynntrautm ... g3Orqr4K_Y

For that entire EP I recorded and mixed on a Tascam DP-FX01 CD digital multitrack. Then I'd do a final mix and audio boost using Audacity.
I just recently bought an Alesis iO2 Express audio interface (still using Audacity though it came with Cubase LE). That little thing is powerful! I barely have to turn up the gain for each input at all and it is crystal clear I've been very impressed.

Re: Musician's thread?
Guitar and Bass along w/ some backing vocals. I did the whole band thing a few times and it's funny because being in a band is like being in a romantic relationship, except w/ more than one person at a time, so you clash alot. I couldn't deal anymore between creative differences, flakey unreliable people, drug addicts, etc. I still jam on my own from time to time but that's it really. Marriage has it's priorities and my other hobbies take up my free time now like video games, horror films, animation, and I'm trying to write a few scripts for a show I want to do and post online.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

I agree about the band/relationship analogy (lol anal). Ive been in a few bands and they all had a problem recognizing my genius!
In all seriousness, you are right though. I'm usually the one to bow out because I dont want to have to deal with actual clashing. If I don't enjoy the music I'm playing, I won't play it, simple as that.
One band I was in, we were supposed to work toward playing shows. Not to make money, not to become rockstars, but to play in front of people. There's nothing like playing in front of even 10 people, it's amazing. Two of the guys were brothers, which made it more difficult. One guy THOUGHT he could sing and couldn't. I'm no Pavarotti, but I'm also not as bad as sandpaper (at least I hope, lol). the other guy decided that our band should be a speedmetal band. I'm not that fast on the drums, or nearly as accurate as one needs to be to play speed metal.
I just backed out, and said they would need to find another drummer. I've enjoyed writing and playing way more since I went solo.

Why did Kevin Flynn blare Journey so loud in his arcade? Was he trying to hear it from the grid?

Re: Musician's thread?
i play guitar in a 7-piece band called BIG THINGS. this is an extremely shitty, rough mix without vocals of most of our songs. we've been compared to portraits of past, bright calm blue, daitro, jane's addiction, and hall and oates. i don't know how accurate those things are, but, yeah. lemme know what you think! as soon as the finished product is done i'll be posting.
