Playing XBLA games from a disc?
I've read on the internet that if you burn a disc with an XBLA games, and you have bought it on your Xbox 360, that you can play the full game from the disc. My question, would be the legality of this and how you would go about getting the games to burn to said disc. I'm wondering for things like DeathSmiles 2, some games like From Dust and Castle Crashers, etc.
EDIT: Also, do you think it would be possible to run more than one game from the same disc? Or not?

I heard of this working. But there was still an ongoing argument about how legal it is?I dont know where i stand as technically its not pirate'ing as your using your paid for game/drm.
But they do say some games run slower and stutter alot.Might be worth investigating it a bit more.

I have a theory to test, but it will take a while.... hmm, I have to find time. I have found that you have to buy the game on Xbox Live first so that you have the licsense on your console, because otherwise the game will only play as a trial. Looking at it, this seems legal to me.

this is actually super interesting. I wonder if there's a similar way to backup a PSN download to a disc and play it from there if you're on the PS3 console/acct you paid for it from?

Heres where i first heard of it.They gave instructions for it aswel. They recommend usb pens instead of dvds.
Free Xbox live Arcade Games
Aegis Wing, Hexic HD, Dash of Destruction, Totem Ball, Yaris
Some of these you may have missed when they where given away free or some are free to us accounts and not available here
Everything here is/was free, so it won't get you banned or anything
(note to mods nothing here is illegal!) file has been scanned for virus.
To Play:
1] Download the 360 Arcade Collection
http://digiex.net/attachments/downloads ... ection.rar
2] Extract with Winrar
3] Burn the ISO to a CD / DVD.
4] Put the CD / DVD in your 360 and go to the arcade game section and play the games!
There is away to get them to run off a usb stick see comments lower down
Totem Ball requires a xbox vision camera to play
heres the link anyway.

Re: Playing XBLA games from a disc?
^The only problem I have with that is I want to put certain games on seperate discs. IE, I want to put Castle Crashers and Galaxy Wars on one disc, and From Dust on another. I'm also wondering if you could make this work with games on demand, I would like to put DeathSmiles 2 on a Disc if I downloaded it.
EDIT: None of those games are what I was looking for. I just have to figure out where to get the games to burn to said disc. I assume you need to put ISO's on the disc, but I'm not sure if I could get them if I pulled the game from my Hardrive.

Yeah i mean i only put that info up as a starter point for you.The games are not great but i thought maybe the info could be transferred across to other games.
I suppose another way to see how to do it would be to see how they do pirate games.Because obviously at some point they take the official stuff out.

Re: Playing XBLA games from a disc?
The reason you can play those games this way is because they contain no DRM, and therefore are not locked to your console and profile like the games you purchase are.
As far as running other games you have PURCHASED from disc, yes, you can. Using your favourite tool, navigate to /Content/0000000000000000/TitleID/000D0000/Game on your 360, copy the files to your PC, and burn the same directory structure to the disc.
It's that simple, and really only useful for those who have no hard drive or memory unit on their console.
Remember, the games will only work in TRIAL mode, unless you purchased them via that console. Also, this works for XBLA games only, AND you will need some way to download the game files to do this.

Re: Playing XBLA games from a disc?
^So for that I would need an XSATA or something like it correct? I will try to see if I could do this using my USB.

You could use a usb memory stick to download the game files to, and then use USB Xbox Explorer on your PC to grab them.
..but then, if you can do that, the whole process is sort of pointless. You can simply back the files up to your PC, and move them back to your USB stick whenever you want to switch games because you ran out of space.
