LOVE Tactics Ogre. Maybe more than FFTA. That's tough. Both great.

I should try Tactics Ogre. Loved FFT, but those random rules or laws or whatever they were in FFTA annoyed me so much that I always ended up putting the game down.

And the other big thing is that TO: KoL's story is actually good and certainly more mature than FFTA's. To be honest I'd even put KoL above the original FFT, and if we're talking the first TO on the SNES/PSX... there's absolutely no hesitation in my mind that it blows FFT out of the water in terms of gameplay, story, characters, everything.

All the Castlevania games on the GBA are great. I enjoy them as much as any console game.

Golden Sun, Fire Emblem and Pokemon are about the only GBA RPG games that I play. Another one that is a little quirky but I still enjoy a lot is Car Battler Joe.

Advance Wars is a turn based strategy game that is definitely one of my favorites but I don't think you would really consider it a RPG.

Shantae is a good platformer.

I also recommend Microsoft Entertainment Pack if you like card solitaire games like Tut's Tomb & Freecell. They're always good for killing 5-10 minutes.

Good luck finding/affording that though.

I'm a heavy GBclassic buff, so RPGs like Final Fantasy Legend II is going to be my top recommendation. (The other Legend games are OK; Adventure is Zelda with a depressing-story.) I also suggest Dragon Warrior Monsters -- the sequels on the GBC and GBA are probably better. Dragon Warrior III is a classic revisited, but it's very grind-heavy. Dragon Warrior I&II is GBclassic friendly, but feels more old-school.

Catrap is a 101-stage puzzle game. Quarth is a fun "reverse Tetris". [/b]Solar Striker[/b] is a short vertical shoot'em up by Gunpei Yokoi. TRAX is a quasi-vertical shmup. Cosmo Tank is part FPS, part vertical SHMUP. It's got Parodius, horizontal shooter based off Gradius (which goes by Nemesis on the GB)!

...

Crap. All I play are Pokemon R/G/B/Y, Tetris, Battleship, and Scrabble nowadays.

Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Wouldn't you get the PSP version over the GBA?

Kirby's Dreamland 2 for the original GB is a solid platformer and has some nice variety when compared to the rest of the series. As with other Kirby games, you can copy enemy abilities, but in this game, you also combine them with a several pets that which the power and have the ability to travel in special environments.
