Anyone here have this PC? In need of some help with it...

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Anyone here have this PC? In need of some help with it...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EOne

My fiancee gave me her old PC (eMachines eOne) that was cluttered with stuff, so I decided to reinstall Windows 98 because she wants to sell it. It turns out this particular machine was short lived on the market, and driver support is not so great. I found a Yahoo group for the machine, but it's hardly active now and there are many posts about needing the original recovery discs to make the most use of the machine. She no longer has these discs, and the eMachines company wants $30 for a replacement disc.

Anyway, so I found some drivers available from the Yahoo group and I've got most of everything running now. There is still an "unknown" PCI device listed under Device Manager and I have no idea what it is. I think it might be the A/V inputs on the side, but I also can't find any info for the LAN under Device Manager. Is there any software that can help me find out what this device is? There was also some software called ATI Video In, but I can't it anywhere now.

Also if there is anyone here that is familiar with (or owns) this PC, any help would be appreciated, especially a way to track down a recovery CD. Installing 2000/XP is out the option unfortunately seeing as how people have even harder times with getting devices to work under those versions of Windows.

Whoa I remember that one! It was a big deal as it was a close rip-off of the original iMac.
Unfortunately, I can't help you with the issues. :)

Install everest home edition. It tells you whats in your computer and where to go for drivers etc. I use it for mine. works great.

I'll check that out and see if it helps. Maybe I'll get lucky and whoever buys it won't care about using those inputs.

you might be just as well installing xp+sp3 (should be out on the 29th). it should have all the drivers OOB so you wont have to worry about finding them. if not they'll be on windows update. it'll probably run a little slow, but definitely more useful then running 98se would be.

I was kind of concerned with selling a PC with a different OS than what it came with. I'd have to use my "special" version of XP for the install.

433 MHz Intel Celeron, 64 megabytes PC-100 SDRAM of memory.

it would make a better anchor than a computer, throw it away.

I'm not fixing it up for myself, my fiancee has a friend who's going to sell it. I'm just getting it cleaned up.

Someone contacted me from the Yahoo group today and uploaded a restore CD iso for me. Looks like I'll be able to restore the PC to it's factory conditions. :D
