How can Nintendo copy from Sony what Sony copied from Nintendo?
You're quite right. Technically they did it with the NES redesign before that as well (left off the A/V ports).

What I was more specifically thinking of, however (and noted) was the dropping of backwards compatibility from a machine that had it originally. Technically, I guess, this wasn't the first time, since they also did it when they launched the DSi.

Before, I was indifferent to the fact that the Wii Minus wasn't going to be released in NA. Now, I'm actually glad of that fact. I'd be ok with Wii Minus being sold at a lower price alongside the regular Wii, but I'd be upset if it replaced it.

Step 1: Remove Gamecube backwards compatibility.
Step 2: Allow Gamecube games to be played only when they are bought digitally from Nintendo's online store.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit.

Unless the Wii Minus gets a sizable harddrive the current nand size makes this totally impossible.
Since this signature affects old posts, I'm leaving a message here in case anyone searches for my username. This account died in early 2013. I am no longer a fundamentalist.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

Also GBA Micro :)

To those wondering how the PSOne was a downgrade, I'm pretty certain some of the older models had superior sound. Also, the parallel port that was removed had been useful to me in playing imported games. The slim PS2 was a downgrade as well, as it removes support for the hard drive. The newer "super slim" removes support for many third-party PS1 memory cards.

This is supposedly true. When looking for Digital Audio mods, I have read that the an original PS1, SCPH-1000s, once modified to output digital audio, are supposed to rival $500 CD players of the era.

Well we all know it's gonna be like the VC, big promises but lets us down when we don't get what we want on it. I just can't wait until the WiiU is hacked and I can rip my GC games to it and play off the WiiU (being hopeful). My only concern is no GC controller for GC games. :(
 (FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)
