And that SNES sucked. I'm sure this'll be a novelty just like it. Not coming to the US? Useless anyways, I totally don't care. lol
And I think people are forgetting Gamecube component cables cost about as much as a Wii itself. So getting a normal Wii for those of us without one is a good alternative to play Gamecube games looking good on HDTV's, and get access to another library as well.

I miss the CD Player with the light showBoringSupreez wrote:I have a hard time considering that one a downgrade, since it looked so much better, had a system menu that wasn't butt-ugly like before, and is more durable. And what was lost, anyway? Some serial connection no one ever used?flamepanther wrote:Sony made their first downgraded miniature version of a console in 2000 with the PSOne.
The PSOne lost the Reset Switch and the parallel port. Actually the cheat cart port went away earlier, but an easy car adapter and LCD screen makes the PSOne a nice transportable.

Re: Revised Wii system
It is interesting that Nintendo only makes console revisions if their console was the most successful of it's generation. You would think they would try to improve an unsuccessful console to get the market share back.

It's called chasing bad money with good money. Redesigning a console costs a lot of money. If the platform is already failing you, dumping more money into it might not be the best idea unless it's your only option.BlackDS wrote:It is interesting that Nintendo only makes console revisions if their console was the most successful of it's generation. @BoringSupreez: I thought the s-video thing was common knowledge around here, but here's an excerpt from Wikipedia.
The SNS-101 features the same "MULTI OUT" audio/video connector used on the original SNS-001 model. However the SNS-101 only outputs composite video and stereo audio through this port, even though the original SNS-001 supported composite video, S-Video and RGB. The video encoder chip used in the system still supports S-Video and RGB, but these pins were left unused.
Re: Revised Wii system
^ The most important part is that the video encoder still supports S-Video, they just chose not to hook it up. It's very easy to add S-Video back, even for a novice solderer. Costs about $3 in parts.
Re: Revised Wii system
Gonna be honest, I forgot about the "PSOne". lol

Re: Revised Wii system
So if I were to hook up my Nintendo S-Video cable to a SNS-101, no signal would come through the S-Video wire? Or would I just get the same signal that normally comes through the yellow wire?flamepanther wrote:@BoringSupreez: I thought the s-video thing was common knowledge around here, but here's an excerpt from Wikipedia. The SNS-101 features the same "MULTI OUT" audio/video connector used on the original SNS-001 model. I think I heard somewhere that the PSone can't output RGB. That alone makes the original model far superior.

Re: Revised Wii system
Apparently the new wii will be replacing the old one. The old wii wont be being sold any more.BlackDS wrote:Meh, so in about a year nintendo will be selling no less than SEVEN systems
Old Wii, Family Wii, Wiiu, DS Lite, DSi, DSiXL, 3DS.
Oversaturation much?
Interesting that a console that plays GBA games is still on the market when gamecube compatability is being fazed out. Personally, I'm not sure how long the DS Lite has either. I can see Nintendo cutting it's production to focus on the 3DS and just leaving the DSi models for DS sales.
Re: Revised Wii system
I think Nintendo has started to phase out production of the DS Lite. I know they stopped in at least one major region so far.
