Since it's a universal cable, you can try it with another console you know works. If you get component out of your PS2, and then switch over to the Xbox and get nothing, it's probably the xbox. Is the ring on the front green at least?

checked my PS2. It worked. Tried the Xbox again and... IT WORKS! I must've plugged something in wrong the first time.

OK fine. But that's what an XB costs to ship. Are you implying nobody has ever bought an XB and paid to have it shipped to them or something?

some of you may know I found an Xbox at a yard sale recently. I don't have a controller. Or AC adapter. Or AV hookups for that matter. So no idea if it works. It's collecting dust because I think there's like 3 Xbox games that even look good to me.

But something else dawned on me. I can hack/mod the Xbox to be a pretty awesome media center, right? I almost think I'd get more use out of it that way.

So what do I need to know, assuming I know shit about the Xbox?

How easy is it to soft-mod it? (is this even necessary?)
What can I do with it?
Can I rip a bunch of DVD's to the HDD?
How easy is it to install a bigger HDD?
Etc?

Do it brutha! I modded mine and it gave new life to my Xbox. I play it non stop actually. I have a thread somewhere posted about it on here. I have 160GB on mine, wish I had gone higher but hey it doesn't take much to save my progress on any games and that's key for me. Well, among other things anyways. Good luck man!
