Saturn Cable question
I have a Sega Saturn bought at a flea market with no cables. I have seen two types of cables (from system to TV) so how do I know which cable is the proper one?

Re: Saturn Cable question
Get one of these. S-video is better if your TV supports it.

Any generic straight power cord that's the matching square/round will work.

Re: Saturn Cable question
there are two types the official ones by sega and ones made by third party companies.
Its way easier to find RF cables for the saturn than the A/V cords! Thats if you find them at fleamarkets. Its as easy as one click here on line.
Saturn cables at first Glance look very much like Genesis cables, but they do have some slight differences. Once you know how they look like you can spot them easily.
heres what I've noticed, Sega Cables are round with some indents on them. They also have an arrow on them (right on the plastic) to tell you in which direction it gets plugged in.
here is some mad paint skillz on the differences!

I know that there are different pins on the genesis. there are different styles cause I own about 3 or 4 of them. The one I did the doodle for is one I had close by.vlame wrote:do the s video cables have different pin ends?
The saturn one I have is a A/V cable, I have some RF saturn cables too, but they're put away and I know there somewhere in my cable box full of wires and controllers.

Re: Saturn Cable question
Yes. S-video uses more wires than composite, which is why it looks better. but you'll be able to tell from the other end if it is composite or s-video. FCs picture is showing you a general idea of the console end. Is is the metal shroud that you are looking at with the flat part or the 3 notches to determine which system it is.vlame wrote:do the s video cables have different pin ends?
