The pictures don't look much different, but I did quite a bit of work today. You can hopefully see that everything is sanded and primed, what you can't see is the keyboard/nettop drawer (I am placing them both on the same tray since the nettop is so small), and the front cabinet door, which are both being attached post-painting. You can probably make out the keyboard tray and the vent and cord holes.

I threw the TV and a TvC stick in there at one point this morning just to pretend and it all seemed to line up and look and feel good. I am increasingly confident that I should have this in playable condition by next weekend, even if I don't have every last detail done at the time.

As a side note, I can't ever recall seeing a white standard sized cab for any game in an arcade...

That's looking great, I really like the white. For the side art, the one for Centipede is a favorite of mine, and it has a white background.

Mine will be dark blue, the white is just primer. Good call on centipede, I'd forgotten that one.

So I just discovered that the Steel Battalion controller is about the same depth as the X-arcade Tankstick and only about 8 inches wider, which means that I could easily create a board for it to sit on and have an awesome second use for the cabinet. I might need to figure out some way to attach the pedals.

I am also seriously considering throwing my slim softmodded PS2 and my Dreamcast in there as the tankstick comes with an adapter for each, and I mostly play arcade-style games on those machines anymore (and have a BC PS3 if I am dying to play a non-arcade style title). There are several titles for each that run much better on those consoles than they do in MAME.

For dreamcast, it might be worth looking up an emulator called Kawaks.

I don't know how well it'll handle 3D stuff, but if you want to get games like MvC2 or Guilty Gear running on your cabinet it'll work fantastic.

A great idea adding some consoles
Maybe throw in a Fat PS2 with HDAdvance/HDLOader? No fuss of having to swap discs and there are two Homebrew EMUs that run installed roms off the hard drive, SNES and Genesis. PC can easily handle the EMUs, but think of all the exclusive PS2 games in a convenient hard drive. :D

Dreamcast
REZ and KProject. The vribration pack really kicks on the Dreamcast version.

people have thrown consoles in before, so it's not like it'd be a huge stretch.

actually the more I think about it, the more a ps2 with HDAdvance or something loaded with arcade-friendly games that don't emulate well would be really cool.
