Getting closer. Today is a month, so thread titled has been updated appropriately.

I am ready for the last few pieces of wood to go on (all for stuff on the front) and to sand/prime/paint. I hope to have it at least primed by the end of tomorrow, so that it will be ready for all the finishing work during the week leading up to Saturday's meet.

The X-arcade folks are sending me a tankstick which should be here early next week, and the marquee should also hopefully be here mid week. I went with this one:



And also picked up one of these for a little variety:



I think that the only things I have left to purchase are one piece of custom cut glass (and black spray paint) and my T-moulding.

The cabinet is going to be a navy blue color. I am considering getting side art from here:

No door on the back and no upper and lower vents on the cabinet? Once you slide a monitor in there you'll probably want to be able to get to the back for adjustments and you're gonna need some air circulation in there.

I like the retro space theme side art with the Asteroids ship and Space Invaders on it.

I agree with what Hobie-wan says, you may want some kind of maintenance door.

My vote is for the Space Invaders art on page 4.

No door on the back and no upper and lower vents on the cabinet? Once you slide a monitor in there you'll probably want to be able to get to the back for adjustments and you're gonna need some air circulation in there.

The plans I am using as my basis don't use any ventilation, which I agree is a bit odd. I will be drilling a hole in the back for a power cord to come out, so there's that... the nettop puts out very little heat at all, and the TV has never been one to get especially hot either.

I don't think I will need to access the back of the TV, as once I plug in the main s-video cable I will be doing any further cable switching in the bottom part of the cabinet. The cabinet will have a door on the bottom front and the glass that sits on the front over the TV can easily be taken on and off. I can always cut holes later, I guess.

You can always drill a hole or two and add some 80mm - 120mm cpu fans in the back. Would be pretty easy to get some power if you're taking it from the pc (assuming you can open it). Otherwise you would just need another PSU?

I thought about this more this morning and I think I am just going to get some a vent grate (but no fan). When I say that the TV and the nettop generate very little heat, that is true - so I am really not very worried about temperature problems. There is going to be a ton of open space under the TV. I think that with the cord hole and one vent towards the top, I should be fine.

That's probably the best idea. There's no tubes or any intense heat being generated by anything. That PC is small enough and most likely already has proper ventilation.

Yeah, even if they don't make much heat, it will still collect if in an enclosed space. Even just a small grated vent at the top of the angled back and another near the bottom would probably be fine.
