No you are right about that, Europe's immigration problems are mostly from the outside, something that is independent from the Union and most of the time predates it.

However, the Union does allow unfettered migration among nation states, so it's not a proactive solution to the problem.

@ZeroAX

I'm not saying that I have the answers for Greece (though I think I've got a very good grasp on the macroeconomic issues). However, another person might have.

What you're basically saying is that people shouldn't ever be allowed to even have an opinion (nevermind having an opinion that should be taken into consideration) regarding countries from which they're not.

It's not even that people might be wrong, is that they will always be so wrong that they should just shut the fuck up. I don't think that's very reasonable, obviously.

No. I said you can't have an opinion about something inside the country (like HOW should the US cut it's deficit? austerity or tax increase?) and expect it to be accurate (which yeah I didn't use, and I should have, but you said my opinion was moronic instead of asking for details, so don't say I'm the only one at fault here, even if I might have the biggest part of the blame...besides it's 1 am here, and I'm with 5 hours of sleep for 3 days now. I know you didn't know that but just saying) without living inside the country.

I can't tell people HOW to do things. I can tell them WHAT (I believe at least) should be the end result. At least that's the realistic thing.

BTW here's a Greek newspaper in English if anyone is curious http://www.ekathimerini.com/

Though I don't know how good it is, cause the one I read is only in Greek from what I can tell.

The funny thing is that the UK is actually outside the Schengen zone, so you can't say that's the cause of the riots.

It's actually easier to have one border (Greece and Italy from what it seems) to check, than to check for immigrants moving from country to country. The cost would be so big, that it's just easier to control the entry points.

Seems so. Here is a news story which includes some stats. They say up to 3000 people could be charged in the end:

Do they have soccer at the Olympics? Cause if so there's going to be a different kind of riot to worry about.
