...Big mistake.
What? You still haven't beaten Symphonia? Get on it, man!
I've tried but the story progresses so SLOWLY. I want to like Symphonia, really I do.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Ah man, I don't remember. I'd have to go look at the synopsis. I think I just passed through some mountains after doing that one town where the guy in charge of the militia was all corrupt and shit.

Wow, you've still got a ways to go. Just keep playing, the game starts to get really good about 1/3rd of the way through.

That's my problem: My time is valuable to me and if a game fails to hit the ground running I have great difficulty justifying playing it. I'm not too keen to 'wait for the game to get good'. A good game should be good from the first screen to the last.

Like I said, I want to like it but this game has been eating away at my patience.

Fair enough, I suppose. I loved the game from the first time I entered a battle, but everybody has different tastes. I will have to admit, the flexible and fun battle system is the main draw of the game.

I totally agree. I wish I went with my gut and dropped FFVIII before spending so much time on it. And just to echo your thoughts I have tried to play 4 different Tales of games (including Symphonia) and found them all really lame.

Like I said, to each his own. I love all the Tales games. I found them to be a shining light of original gameplay among other RPGs.

I'll second lisalover1 on this - the tales games aren't turning me into a believer but I definitely see a good game in there. Just maybe not one aimed at my style of gameplay.

Played a bit more Chrono Cross these last two days. Been making solid progress and am now stuck on a boss named Miguel. Tried to fight him 5-6 times and get soundly beaten every time I get him fatigued. He launched two attacks one right after another against all 3 of my characters and they can only survive the first one (just barely). I keep messing around with my magics to see if I can come up with another strategy, but nothing seems to work yet.

One attempt I had the brilliant idea of casting Seal All (blocks out EVERYONES magic for a limited time), and it turns out it doesnt affect him so I locked out all my characters magic only. That was a fun fight!
