I think we're looking at Platformer as a broad concept. If we can include Psychonauts with Decap Attack then I think Nightmare on Elm Street and Castlevania will fit in just fine.
Also I'm trying our Marvel Land now.

Re: Platformer Hidden Gems
let me know what you think about Elm Street. People tend to blindly hate LJN. Elm Street is interesting (the order of the houses is somewhat random, you have both regular versions of each level a dream versions of each level, you have the ability to switch characters from normal to athlete, ninja, wizard and the music is AMAZING).MattJay wrote:I think we're looking at Platformer as a broad concept. Re: Platformer Hidden Gems
It appears Rare developed the game and LJN published it... that makes me very curious to try it out. Rare is (was) my all-time favorite developer alongside Nintendo.noiseredux wrote:let me know what you think about Elm Street. People tend to blindly hate LJN. I'm willing to bet all the LJN hate is from people who heard it first from the Angry Video Game Nerd, lol.
Re: Platformer Hidden Gems
Rare was famous for getting around Nintendo's 5 games a year rule. They developed SIXTY games on the NES. More than any other company.dogman91 wrote: It appears Rare developed the game and LJN published it... that makes me very curious to try it out. And yeah LJN weren't great but the hate for them was never huge until the AVGN started making his videos.
Also, Noiseredux maybe you can tell me about this:

WHY CAN'T I GO DOWN THERE? There's NOWHERE else to go.
EDIT: Wait I figured it out. You need to collect all the bones in a section to progress. Good thing Rare got over the whole collect-a-thon thing. *COUGH*
Also I'm quite enjoying this game. Very floaty controls, but the nightmare stuff is interesting. And yeah the music is rad.
EDIT EDIT: Yup so I'll be doing a stream of some of these games tonight at 8PM EST. Join us!

oh yeah 4 Player NOES rules. You can't go down there cuz you didn't find all the bones in that level. Yes, normally I HATE collecting games. But this one isn't overly heavy on it. It's not the only thing going on.
have you tried all the characters yet? They each control different. Ninja rules. Wizard can hover. Etc.
