Oh, hmm I'll have another look over it then because as far as I know I've had my snes since it came out so I'm pretty sure it's official.

you may lose some video quality but at least you'll get to play.

Also from what I can tell, your old tv has fine tuning knobs.

Open the little door in the front and there may be some little round things.

they have something like this

VHF 2-6
VHF 7-13
UHF 14-66

Connect your SNES and turn it on, fiddle with the low VHF knob untill a clear picture shows up.

Old TV's did this so you wouldnt have to channel surf through static. You could then program each button to a specific channel
I know how to tune the tv, I've already tuned it into regular tv channels.

I've also tuned through every setting on the tv with the snes hooked into the vcr and also straight into the tv and all I get is sound, still no picture. Many many hours of tuning with no results.
I like SNES and SNES accessories.

You don't have that little switch between the RF RCA plug and the power socket?

Odd because that picture is labaled as a PAL machine, not a Japanese one. Maybe there was a hardware revision, but I dont' see why they'd remove something like that. I'm out of ideas. :(

I love your Retro TV!

It is odd your NES does not have a channel switch, maybe the internal RF box is removed? Can you post a pic of the back of your console?

RF Connection
Try bypassing the external NES Game/TV select switch. Hook up a RCA to RF adapter and plug directly to the TV. Check channels 2, 3 and 4. Note that the RF connection though RCA, is different from the Composite video connections on the side of the NES.

UHF or VHF connection
You can go with flojocabron's suggestion of using a VCR. Plug the video cables from the NES to the VCR, then a RF cable to the Retro RF only TV. Curious, does the TV have a single coaxial connection or the older non shielded duel screws for VHF? Also is there a separate connection for UHF? Usually the duel non shielded screws are UHF, common on older TVs. You might have the NES plugged in UHF, which is for channels above 13.

What? No the most common Japanese model has a channel switch also. He didn't say he was trying to use an SFC, that'd be almost certain to not display on the old TV his picture shows.

Yes, I'm aware she's trying to use a PAL SNES. The picture I linked is labeled as a PAL one and has a switch, IE assuming the picture is labeled correctly and one would think he should have a switch too.

If the linked picture was incorrect and was actually a Japanese unit, then it wouldn't help as an example for comparison. That's what I meant.

sfc left snes pal right

maybe he has to tune his tv to channel A, B, 3 or 4.

a diff look.

perhaps the 2nd pic is his, also, if he needs a switching RF wire he would need to swipe one from a genesis model one.

Huh, okay... THAT is different. I kind of had suspicion SNES revisions haven't been researched as much as other consoles (minor stuff like the apparently differing yellowing rate between units), but this is taking it to another level.

The back of my snes looks exactly like that second picture.

I'll take all of your suggestions into account and try them out when I have some time.

Oh and just for the record, I'm female. So you should be saying she not he.
