crashing comp

i just did a fresh install on vista on my laptop, now my comp crashes randomly, is there any reason why? should i install all the updates would that help?

I think the problem is that vista SUCKS. I had the same problem with random crashes and the computer going to a blue error screen and it started doing it so much I had to upgrade to xp. One of the problems with vista is that its a resource hog and not bug free I put xp in my machine and not only does it run faster but it does not crash anymore.

My mother-in-law's Vista laptop blacks out randomly.
Not sure if it's the laptop or Vista.
Tonight I have to go over to figure out why her wifi isn't working. (I already tried troubleshooting all the normal stuff over the phone)

That doesn't help you of course, but have you installed the new service pack?

What are the specs of your laptop? Did you run the Vista upgrade compadibility program from Microsoft before installing?

Ive had vista on here before and it never crashed, i just reformated and reinstalled it.

2 gig ram
Geforce go 7900 gs x2
amd turion 64 ml-42 2.4 ghz

i think i found the problem, when i run the windows update it seems to just crash after a little bit. guess i will never have an updated comp lol.
