Soul Calibur coming to XBLA

Post by Doctor Fugue »

The title says it all. The good: one of the best 3D fighters, well...one of the best-reviewed games of all time (currently no.6 on gamerankings.com for all consoles), retouched graphics for higher resolutions. The bad: no online combat. Can we start dreaming about other DC titles for download? Great move, Namco...gets me excited for SCIV.

Ah, Soul Calibur, the series that I always felt was my favorite 3D fighter...until Soul Calibur 3 came out, and I realized I enjoyed VF4 a lot more.

Still, I'm more than willing to say that I still believe the first Soul Calibur is one of the best 3D fighters ever made...

part of me is glad about this, but my other more elitist. fanboy side is not happy about it eheh

having said that, the minute I get a 1080p TV (and then a 360), SC and Ikaruga will be the first things I download

I dropped MANY hours into Soul Blade on the PS1. But I never had a DC so I didn't much play SC nor any of its sequels. I'll think about getting this one because I'm sure it's much closer to Soul Blade than the last couple of games. They seem pretty gimmicky.

I've been getting into SC2 and SC3 lately. I feel that if you were a huge Soul Blade fan like I was, then SC2 is your best bet. It's a bit more refined than SC1, the roster's movesets are more unique, the music sounds much more authentic often steal the show similar to how the KHAN Sessions did in SB, and it includes a remake of sorts of the Weapon Master mode that SB had, and SC1 lacked.

It's supposed to be HD.
That's a good start.

Yeah, they've said it will be fairly enhanced - visuals, leaderboards, etc. - but no online play.
