Why Nintendo is going down the drain

Post by RyaNtheSlayA »

Ok, hate me if you want, but i must let this out of my heart...

NINTENDO IS NOW FULL OF BULL S~!!.

Wanna know why, (this is my opinion)

In terms of software i find most of there games now mediocre, in fact since the gamecube was released. Also everybody is defending them saying oh with this new motion conrtoller and stylus in case of the DS, its good. They are turning our market into a uncool mess of casual crap.

Also 3rd partys hate them.

The controles in most games that use the stylus on DS or the Wiimotes motion sensing on WII is generally sloppy.

And my last complaint is that people use sales to say how great the WII is, well i did some research and found that 67% of wii owners dont use their Wii.

Im sorry but i must say Nintendo, the once great game developer, has turned to a pile of munky crap
thats my 2 cents. Do not flame me, you may state your opinion but i did not join this respectable forum to be flamed
thank you for your time

I definately agree with most of your points.
I love the DS, but I'm becoming less and less interested in the Wii.
But to be honest, I'm not completely happy with any of the big three players.

What's weird is that if Sony gets the PSN library up to the level of XBLA (or better), I might actually consider a PS3. This is coming from a Sony anti-fanboy.

i was with you, i was all sega, now ive got a PS3 though and love it so i know where you are comming from. I just actually hope there is a video game crash to wipe out all the crap and leave it to the good guys to make games again.

I have throughly enjoyed every game I have purchased for my Wii, all fifteen or so of them. There are alot of bad games, I own a few of them, but my friends and I have still gained enjoyment out of them so I am quite happy with my purchase. My DS on the other hand is mostly played as a GBA, since launch actually. This may have more to do with the fact that after a while it hurts my hand to hold the dang thing. However I won copies of Mario Vs Donkey Kong 2 and Scurge DS last weekend and have already grown bored of both. To me Mario Vs Donkey Kong has a needlessly tacked on touch mechanic and Scurge is just not really my style (pretty though).

I understand where you are coming from and agree to an extent, but I still see Nintendo pumping out some fun stuff. Sure the third parties are not up to snuff, but Nintendo never really had great relationships with third parties.

There are great games for both systems. Most of Nintendo's games, in fact, are good. It's the third party games that suck, mostly on the Wii. This is also partly Nintendo's fault, though, because they have the ability to tell companies like Data Design where to go and they're choosing not to.

I will say, though, that while I am close to giving up on the Wii the DS is still kickin' some butt. Lots of good games and they keep coming.

First off, I can say that the DS's control schemes for the most part are tight and superb. When games implement the controls properly, touch control is awesome. Perfect example is Ninja Gaiden and Phantom Hourglass. Honestly, Nintendo has always created the handhelds that have the most appeal for me. First/third party of games, accessories, and even just design, I've loved 'em all. I also own a NeoGeo Pocket Color, but honestly, its not as good as the gameboy simply because of the games. :( They're pretty good, just lacking a little bit...and there's always the number of KA games for the GB.

Another subject, before I address the Wii, is that I still don't understand how people think the GCN's library of games is somehow bad. I've got over 50 games for the system, 85% of which are KA titles that everyone should play and there are still tons of games I want to get and play through. 98% of Nintendo's games on the GCN are some of the most fun games you can have from the last generation. Considering that's like a third of the GCN games there, the library is great. I'm not going to compare it to the PS2 or XBOX, even though I do like the GCN more than those two consoles, because honestly, when you look back at consoles that are last-gen, old-school, etc, It really doesn't matter how many good games you can buy. Yeah, so mebe you'll only want to buy 100 or so of the GCN games available, but the GCN is cheap, sort of like how NES used to be. That's what's important. Plus, third party doesn't make a console. As long as it has good games, it's worth a buy. But, w/e.

It's pretty obvious that it's become a new trend to hate on Wii. Maybe people have "justified" reasons for why, but I'm honestly confused as to how someone can not enjoy any of the Wii games whatsoever and then buy a PS3 and start acting like you like every game for the console. You just happened to buy a good game, and I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the ecstasy you get from getting a new console. It actually sounds like you bought crappy Wii games. I didn't like Twilight Princess too much, even though a ton of people rave about it, but Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite 3D mario game, btw I've played all 3, and that game alone is worth the console. Combine that with smash, Zack and Wiki, and some of the other fun games, the console is great for me. Also, third party loves Nintendo, because the "casual" will buy shitty games. Nintendo actually needs to be stricter on their regulations for Wii games. Nintendo should seriously consider making 16:9, 480p, and Dolby Pro Logic IIx mandatory. It's so easy to make a game on the wii, considering how much power you have for such a low-res output, the low frame rates and lack of the aforementioned features simply pisses me off. It's completely unacceptable. Nintendo also needs to get a HDD or something going, cuz the channel/space setup they're using right now sucks. Same with VC. We need demos for Christ's sake. Timed Demos that is. I'm sure tons of people have bought VC games they didn't like and seriously regret purchasing them, either because they weren't fun once you get past the nostalgia, or because they just make a silly choice.

The Wii needs some adjustments, but so does the 360 and PS3. The whole generation is unfortunately lack luster. Even though I jumped on the 360 Elite and enjoyed the hell out of it when I first bought it, I just can't say I've enjoyed this generation like I did the last. Maybe it's because I'm older...

I think the problem is that Nintendo is trying to appeal to the new casual gamer and consequently, leaving us, the hardcore fans that made them what they are today, in the dust. Sure, every once and a while they release the hardcore game we want (Mario strikers charged, smash brothers etc.) but when the entire e3 press conference is about a damn exercise board rather than a new game in our beloved franchises, I feel as if they have just given up on us for the more profitable crowd. This isn't to say I hate Nintendo, as I still play my snes daily and I think they are the very best game developers in the world, but if they continue down their path I might have to give up on the brand that brought me into the world of gaming (not likely though).

It doesn't really bother me at all. If nintendo wants to make an excercise board, and people want to buy it, that's fine by me. I'd def. be upset if they completely stopped making Mario/Zelda/Metroid games altogether, but I'm fine with 2 or 3 Hardcore releases a year and the occasional good 3rd party title. My 360 has more than enough of a backlog already to make up for it, not to mention the fact that i only recently got a Ps2 and have to get caught up on 7 years of classics. Hell, Brawl's easily enough game to last me until the next big release all by itself.

I'm so nonchalant regarding the current gen, I still intend on skipping it entirely. As long as there's is evolution and competition in the industry, I'm happy just sitting back and watching it roll. I've got 100's of games from the past I still need to get to. I say let Nintendo experiment all they want.

I agree with AwesomeMonstar. Nintendo is trying to appeal to the newer younger generation of gamers. At the same time, they are flooding the market with a lot of crappy games, both for the DS and Wii. I guess that as long as they are doing well business wise, they won't stop. It is just simple supply and demand. If uninformed parents and kids continue to eat these shitty games up, then this practice will continue on. Maybe this might not last forever. We will just have to see on the long term how XBOX360 and PS3 will fare out with Nintendo little white machine.
