What was the last movie you've seen?

I think The Dark Knight is going to stick out as sort of a side story to everything else. Supposedly this movie ties back to events from the first, while The Dark Knight didn't really go there at all. The whole league of shadows taking down Gotham, bruce training, and the fear toxin elements made the first movie feel like more of a fantasy. The Dark Knight felt more realistic. Now they're going back to more of a fantasy, with a sci-fi-ish villain who seems to be attempting to take down gotham/batman for a specific reason, rather than just a crazy guy. To me it seems like they could have jumped straight from the first movie to this one, other than a few elements like batman becoming a fugitive again.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
What pisses me off about the third movie is that it's supposedly the last one and there's no sign of:

or

or the one person that I wanted to really see in Nolan's Batman Universe:

And I can imagine all three.
Harley would've been a sociopath who deluded herself into thinking she had a relationship with The Joker. She receives a canister of a stolen experimental chemical weapon (a la Joker gas), later revealed to be a gift from The Riddler, who also manipulated Catwoman (a disgraced gymnast-turned-cat thief), who just used her as part of his plan.
Robin, this time a guerrila-style vigilante named Robyn Chang, whose parents were killed by Joker and has become a badass vigilante. Think a barely-legal mix of Hitgirl and Knives Chau.
And The Riddler would've been a Jigsaw-esque figure, using puzzles to torment his victims, though never makes any real physical appearance, only appearing as a face on a computer monitor, et al. At the end of the movie, we find out that he's been dead since before day one and that he wanted his work to have more meaning by killing himself and destroying the world from beyond the grave.
I also have an idea for a new Batman movie, this time set in Depression-era Gotham City, a la the old-school Batman stories, eschewing the sci-fi fantasy elements for a more pure pulp experience. I'm also thinkin Jon Hamm as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Oh, and a detective series (a la Cold Case, CSI, Criminal Minds, et al) based around a reformed Edward Nygma who takes the place of a slain Batman in a crime-controlled Gotham City, where a much-darker Joker runs the show.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Nolan said from day one "No fucking Robin in my movies". I respect his decision. It's the Nolan-verse after all.
And although HQ works in cartoons and some comics, she would take away from Nolan's Joker. It would be..well it would be super dumb and take away from the script. It would also lessen the Joker's mystery/ambiguity and humanize him if he had a partner. Nolan's Joker is what the Joker was, the "Killing Joke" Joker, not some cartoon. Nothing against HQ, but she's not Nolan material.
I admit I could be wrong. Perhaps audiences are more familiar with HQ than they are with Bane. Plus her character could work in a dark atmosphere, but Nolan also mentioned "no more Joker, no more Joker references".
I think there has to be at least one or two references in RISES about the Joker, then it'll be put to rest.

That's why you make Harley Quinn a stalker sociopathic obsessed fangirl type. She never knew him, or even met him, but still thinks of him as her soul mate.Luke wrote: And although HQ works in cartoons and some comics, she would take away from Nolan's Joker. And if she was in the movie, she'd have to pull off this look at one point:

And I'm not just saying that cuz Marilyn Manson and Evan Rachel Wood had this Joker/Harley vibe in the Heart-Shaped Glasses Video, and I mean the real one, not the butchered one.

Too bad. Robin can be done quite well, completely unlike the cheesy version from the 60's stuff. Just read The Dark Knight Returns for proof of that.

Yeah, she wouldn't work for the same reason Killer Croc or The Penguin wouldn't.

Can't say I'm a Robin fan, either. I like my Batman solo.Luke wrote:Nolan said from day one "No fucking Robin in my movies". I respect his decision. It's the Nolan-verse after all.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
It seems pointless to do any sort of Harley Quinn story. She was the joker's partner in crime, that was her role. If you're going to change that entirely, why use her at all and not just use a completely different villain who could be more true to the comics?
I was expecting the riddler all along, but it was too obvious of a choice. Bane works because they can tie him back to the first movie, instead of doing a villain of the week approach like most comic book movies.
I would like to see a batman movie set during the 40s, but I doubt it will ever happen. It would be interesting to explore crime during WWII, and Wayne Industries' role in the war. And if he were training to become Batman at that time, you could have an interesting world travel element to it, with Bruce in Japan and a kurasawa vibe. . . . surely there was some secret cult of samurai who didn't take sides.....

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
When I saw JGL was cast, I thought for sure he was going to play the Riddler. I still think he'd be great at the role, but save for a scene or two we don't see Batman doing a lot of detective work in the Nolanverse. But it would be hilarious to see Batman analyzing riddles using the Bat-computer.Jrecee wrote:

I'd love a Batman movie made in a film noir style. Set it around the 1920's or 30's, and include the beginning of the demise of Gotham.
