im trying to install xp on my laptop, it currently has vista on it. when i try to install xp it says there are no hardrives dected to install xp. What do i do?

seriously, there's is a driver on vista that doesn't allow windows xp to register any hardrives. there is a solution to solve this problem. if you havent figured it out yet just pm me and i'll help you out.

Say what? The situation here is most likely that his laptop hard drive is recognized as a SATA drive, which XP discs can never detect. That's probably what it does. Wish I realized that before. Do you think it limits the speed at all by downgrading to IDE? This is only a 5400RPM drive, so I doubt it even comes close to IDE's speed limit anyway.
