XBLA confusion

Post by Radiant Hero »

I have just recently downloaded 2 full games from the XBLA game store using my free 1 month trial. I purchased Ikaruga and SOTN. I noticed that if my internet cable is not physically connected to my 360, preventing XBLA from establishing a connection, the 2 games are only playable as trial versions. Why? Do I have to have a constant XBLA connection in order to play my PURCHASED games as full versions? If not please tell me how I can play my bought game as full versions when I am not connected to XBLA.

Are you playing them on the original console they were purchased from? When you buy any DLC off the marketplace, it associates the download with whatever console (not HDD) you're on when you make the purchase.

I bought about 25 or so XBLA games on my last 360 and had to send it in for repairs. MS shipped me back a brand new system with a different serial number, and now my XBLA games will only be trial versions unless I'm connected to Live. It's Microsoft's shitty way of digital rights management.

That's exactly what I did. Man, that's really dumb. This is probably my first and last experience with XBLA.
I don't play games, I experience them.

Yeah it is really annoying. You either have to be on the XBOX you purchased the game with, or logged in with the account you purchased it with.

This became a huge nuisance for me when I got the XBOX 360 Elite and transferred all my stuff from my old 20 gig HDD to the new 120gig HDD. I just moved to LA and I didn't have my internet connection and all my fav games except for Rez were all downloaded with my old XBOX 360. So I couldn't play any of them until I got the interwebs hooked up.

ugh, 3 weeks with out video games AND internet. I was pissed. Luckily I thought before leaving for LA and threw some good books into my car to hold me over.

If anyone is interested, go get "The Society Of Others" by William Nicholson. Holy crap it was freakin' AMAZING! I couldn't put it down, I finished it in just a day I was so sucked in.

What do you mean using your free 1 month trial? You can buy XBLA games with a silver account.

If you have a replacement console, redownload your crap, or phone MS customer support. Replacements should work as if it were the original console.

Redownloading doesn't do the job because the digital rights remain with your previous console. Sucks but true.

Have you called them to switch your DRM to your new console? Apparently it works, but it takes 3 months for some reason. I'm still waiting for my 3 months...but I've heard that it does indeed work.
