Title of the thread is referring to review scores -- i.e. bad games (6.5) are more enjoyable than AAA titles (9.0). The OP must have drunk-dialed Racketboy when that was written..

Meh, this is the kind of thing that I hear a lot of, though typically not on such a big gap.

It's important for people to actually read the reviews, and not just look at the scores. Putting that in context, a large number of professional reviewers shun JRPGs these days. Hyperdimension Neptunia has a metacritic of 43, and a user score of 82. Every review that I've seen has made fair points defending their score, both good and bad (apparently there's a game-breaking bug with online, or something?). Even so, if I had a PS3, I would pick the game up in a heart-beat, because it sounds exactly like what I would be into.

A score is given, usually, more on the expected enjoyment of the average gaming enthusiast at the time, not necessarily on functionality or creativity within a genre.

In short: read the reviews, and decide if it sounds like something you like. Don't assume that your taste is that of an average consumer and go by that number at the bottom of the page!

I felt something was missing too. The second post says "Cool story bro." Was that sarcasm or something? Or did Mr.Eco really find

Cool Story Bro is a meme.

Eco was just joking.

6.5 is good. But I think most of my favorite games still linger in the 7.0 to 8.9 range.

6.5 is like a back up insurance just in case you were unhappy with your AAA purchase, so says Mr. Swery65%.

Games reviews are of very low quality anyway. Scores are mostly the same across the board.

Nearly all of my favorites have scores from 7.0 to 10.0. And I don't think professional reviews are that great oftentimes, but I do think that reader review score averages are worth paying attention to. Maybe I just have average tastes, but 99% of the time, if most reviewers think a game sucks, I'll find it to be true for me.
