Rise of the Planet of the Apes

This works in reworking the original mythology of The Planet of the Apes series.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I thought the movie was going to be cheesy and was expecting that so I had an open mind, but instead the movie was far better than I have anticipated and believe that the movie was indeed a very good sci-fi movie.

Anyone interested in sci-fi should give this movie a chance. It's very entertaining and I personally give it a 10/10

If it's anything made by Gregg Araki after The Doom Generation then it's definetely worth watching. I loved Mysterious Skin for example.

Speaking of Mysterious Skin, I've started reading the book, but only got as far as the end of the Kindle sample.

And how intense was that rape scene?

Oh, and I'vee see two of his pre-TDG films: Totally F***ed Up and The Living End. Both awesome. That only leaves 2 Araki movies I haven't seen yet, both pre-TDG. I've even see This is How the World Ends.

Captain America, and it was pretty darn good.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Compared to something like I Spit On Your Grave or Irreversible? Very intense and the fact that most of the time you can even see the kids makes it even more fucked up. The book and movie are definetely 16+ material.

As for TDG, that's his worse and most mainstream film even though that one is also kind of insane (There's graphic gore, extremely graphic sex scenes, drug use and all of that involves teens, the fricking cut version is rated R for strong vicious violence, graphic sexuality, pervasive strong language and some drug use   ).

Actually, The Doom Generation is one of faves, next to Nowhere. I've seen them both more than any other.

And if you did like TDG, I'd recommend the French DVD, which is made from a better transfer, unlike the 4x3, pan-and-scan analog transfer of the old Trimark DVD that's still being reprinted by Lionsgate.

And I mistakenly left off Splendor on my list of Araki films I haven't seen yet. The other two are Three Bewildered People in the Night and The Long Weekend (O' Despair).

Thanks for telling me, I was about to search the Lionsgate DVD on eBay.

Captain America: The First Avenger

Very good. I saw it with my dad. He thought it was the best Marvel movie yet. I still think Iron Man is the best Marvel movie, but I'd definetly put this one right alongside it.

Great period piece. They definetly captured the Golden Age/WWII era feel, perfectly. Great acting, great story, and good action.

If anyone goes to see this stay after the credits to get a trailer for The Avengers.

That's awesome. My parents live around 250 miles away, and I believe the last movie I saw with my Father was JURASSIC PARK; I know, it's been a while. And when I do visit, we usually watch movies in his home theater, so it's likely I'll never go to the theater with him again, which is a bummer.

Anywho, APES is worth two viewings.
