Advice on spending 20 bucks?

Post by The Last Horseman »

I have twenty bucks and I want to buy a game to hold me off until I can get some games later this year. (Gears of War 3 and Skyrim mainly, I plan on getting Epic Edition and Collector's edition specifically, so about $300)

I was wondering what game I should pick up while I was waiting. I was thinking either Fallout 3 or New Vegas, or possibly some other game. I had Fallout 3 for a while, but it made me somewhat depressed. I'm thinking I could pick it up again, but I'm not sure if the sadness factor will dissapear for me. I've heard New Vegas is more zany and funny, so I thought it might be a better fit. I'm open to other games, however they need to last me. I admit that forking out the money for these special editions is somewhat stupid, but I can't help it. I might drop down to the normal limited edition on Gears 3, I'm not sure.

Thanks in advance.
Systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, Gamecube, Xbox 360

WTB: Boxes for a silver Gamecube System(and a hyperport cover), and a box for an Ice Blue N64 console. Will pay 7.50 for each and shipping.

^ I thought that was a relatively short game. Also, I'd want to pick up the collector's edition if I did get it.

A Collector's Edition for $20? Best I can think of is Oblivion: GotY edition.

^ I have that, but that's not what I'm saying. I mean that I want normal Fallout 3 or New Vegas (read first post for my worries) or any other suggested game that will last me until those other two come out.

^Had it, nobody to play with.... I didn't really find it that fun either, it was pretty meh. I know, I'm a picky bastard. That's why my game collection in total right now is less than 30...

Ahh, I gotcha.. I read what you said about Batman, and misread it that you were looking for only Collector's Ed. copies.. Whoops!

In that case, $20 will buy you a good amount of time before those games! Borderlands, as swift just said, is amazing, (and I'm not even a fan of FPS's!) Try to score the second edition with the extra maps and such for multiplayer! Otherwise, you can't go wrong with Saints Row 2, Crackdown (the first one, not the sequel,) The Club, The Darkness, Bayonetta, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, or GTA IV: Liberty City Stories (LOTS of content for an Andrew Jackson!)

And since you're waiting for two anticipated games in familiar genres, now would be the BEST time to branch out and try some genres you might not be too familiar with!

Fighters: Street Fighter IV (vanilla), BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, Battle Fantasia, Virtua Fighter V
Space Shooters/Shmups: Project Silpheed, Raiden IV, Raiden Fighters: Aces, WarTech
Sports: pick one pre-2010, Blitz: The League
Action/Adventure: Afro Samurai, Assassin's Creed, Way of the Samurai 3, Ninja Gaiden II, Devil May Cry 4
Role-Playing: Lost Odyssey, Fable II, Infinite Undiscovery
Racing: Forza 3, Project Gotham Racing 4, Midnight Club: LA, Burnout Revenge

You can get Super Street Fighter IV for 20 bucks, which has quite a bit more content. I would probably recommend that version instead, if the OP wanted SF4.

I would say Fallout: New Vegas. It's definitely not as dark as Fallout 3 and there are a lot of other improvements. Borderlands is another good option, but it won't last you as long.
