Has any one ever played the Sonic 1 hack called "Sonic Megamix"? I've known about it for a while, but I only first tried it last night. It's amazing. It was a hack for Sonic 1 on Genesis up to version 3.0, then it was ported to Sega CD. I played the current version 4.0b last night (Sega CD emulator) for a little and it was amazing. You would never know it's a hack of Sonic 1. It feels more like something built from scratch. You can read all about it and even download it it (Sega CD or Genesis) here:

There's five playable characters. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, and Mighty. Each has their own special abilities. They all have super forms, and they made so you have to press B+C to turn super. What's cool is that you can press B+C again to turn back to normal.
Later today I'm gonna burn it and see how it plays on real hardware (apparently it works great).
S&K + Sonic 3 questions SOLVED
Re: S&K + Sonic 3 questions SOLVED
Indeed I played through that a few months ago and it was honestly pretty damn awesome, felt like a legit Sonic game for the most part.
Re: S&K + Sonic 3 questions SOLVED
Yeah, Sonic Megamix is good stuff.
I've never tried to burn it though. I probably should, and play it on the real deal. Make a nice box cover for it too.
Sonic Classic is pretty good too, if any of you haven't tried it. Its a pc game (as in, not a rom hack that could potentially be played on the real hardware), and although the level design kinda pisses me off, its fun to play.
The game allows you to have Tails follow Knuckles as well, if that does anything for you.

I was just playing Megamix on my Sega CD for a while, I think I'm up to the 5th group of levels. It's one of the best game hacks I've ever played, ever. While the level design doesn't feel like something Sonic Team would have done on the Genesis, it feels so much like a legit game rather than hacks. Now don't get me wrong, I love hacks, but most hacks have poor level design. Megamix has awesome level design, it really does feel like a legit game.
I've only played as Sonic so far, so I've yet to experience the special moves of the other characters. I like how you can save your game progress. Overall, I'm very impressed with all the features that have been implemented.
I think I've played Sonic Classic before, can't remember. I remember trying a fan made PC Sonic game when Sonic 4 just came out, but it was only a level or two long. It was really good though. Any way, I'm downloading Sonic Classic right now to check it out.

I'm willing to bet what you played was Sonic Fan Remix, a one level long (at the time, its a work in progress) remake of Sonic 2, with extremely detailed graphics (to the point that some people complained it was too busy. Some folks are never happy.Ziggy587 wrote: I think I've played Sonic Classic before, can't remember. I've never tried that game. I probably should.
Anyway, its different from Sonic Classic. Let me know what you think of Classic though. Like I said, the level designs kind of piss me off sometimes, like the game is almost working against you, but its fun just the same.

Ah, yes, it was probably Sonic Fan Remix. And I definitely remember people complaining it was what Sonic 4 should have been lol.
I just played Sonic Classic for a few minutes. Couldn't get the joystick to work, so I didn't feel like playing with the keyboard (way too hard). I'll try and get a joystick working with it later and give it a real shot. Looked great though, from the minute I had it on.
I'll have to check up on Sonic Fan Remix and see where it's at with progress now. I remember it being pretty damn good. The music was fantastic.
