Did You Ever Ditch Gaming?
I quit for a while back with splinter cell came out, for some reason that game made me quit for at least half a year. Started back and then quit again at the age of 18 1/2 thats when me and 2 buddies started working out every day, in about 6 months to a year we worked out like crazy, it was running a 3.5 mile route, or a 6.5 mile route, playing football, basketball, running on the track, running through town climbing on shit, and then playing poker at the end of the day, I lost about 60 pounds. Then i got laid lol and we kinda stop working out since one buddy had problems with his gf, they broke up and he got another one. I started again then quit again a year ago when I met the girl im with now. I slowly started playing games, now I play for probally a hour a day. Sometimes maybe a bit more. I will only play my ps2 in the living room cause of the kick ass tv, my tv is dieing slowly its hard as hell to read on it so i cant play mana khemia, the problem with playing in the livin room is that my dad sleeps in their since beds hurt his back to much, thats like his room hes always in there if hes not working or fishing so the only time i get to play is the 4 hours i have between class and work. once school is out im going to get a second job either at gamestop or at this local hardware store so i maybe quiting gaming again, unless i can get some week ends off to play.

The four years when I went back to school, I had to quit cold turkey. Videogames are my only addiction, and I couldn't manage my time well enough when I'm playing. The most painful part was, I worked at Gamestop during that time, and kept up with magazines and websites to keep my knowledge up. Just didn't play anything, outside of get-togethers with friends. I have a sealed backlog of titles to work through (and some to sell).

I think thats the most realistic phrase Ive ever heard in my life and the first positive thing you said since Ive been here!!!!!Mozgus wrote:Kinda similar to my outlook on life actually. Well to go on topic the same as some guys here when I was finishing high school and starting at the university I left gaming COMPLETELY!.
Then one day on my fifth year in the university I started browsing ebgames page and found capcom vs snk 2 at $35.00. So I bought it and that was the game that brought me back to gaming. Then it was gungrave and all was downhill again from there. Dusted off my old systems from the storage box and started gaming again.

I quit for a year during college...well, I didn't quit per say, but I stopped buying games, stopped visiting game stores, and didn't really spend much time sitting around with games. While I've recently had a resurgence, that's really only been for the last couple of months. It's mainly because I just graduated in December, so I now have the time and the money.

I started playing music in high school and stopped gaming for a while. When I moved out of the house my brother sold all of my SNES an genny stuff for drugs. Awesome! I think this was around 97 or so. I still had my ps1, but didnt' really play it. I ended up giving it and a few games (including SOTN and FFVII) to my roommates little brother. I didnt' play any games until about 2002, when I bought a SNES again. After that I picked up just about everything I used to own and more. I'm a casual gamer now, but I've got a nice variety of systems and games so there is always something to play. (When I have time that is!)

When I was in college gaming was on the back burner. I played a few PC games in the dorm, Age of Kings and Counter-Strike, and some N64 Mario Tennis but that was mostly it. The only console I had at college was my Genesis for one semester. I think I played some vintage PS1 games on my roommates PS2 during my last semester, once everything was winding down.
After I graduated I started getting back into gaming. I bought a PS2 as a graduation present and a friend of mine lent me his Xbox. Now I've got my own Xbox, Dreamcast, Gamecube, and PS2. Joining Underground gamer has fueled my pc gaming.
Right now I'm finding myself not playing too many games. I'm job hunting and it's hard to lose yourself in games when you don't have job and can't relax at the end of the day. I feel like I need to devote my energy to productive things until I'm back on my feet.
