*sigh* This is going to turn into another copyright debate isn't it? :?

No matter what bullshit fine print is put on products, reselling the physical product is allowed. Now if it is computer software that requires a serial number or something to make it work, that's another matter. Since CDs, movies, and games (for now mostly) don't require a serial number which a company can claim is not transferable, selling the physical item is allowed. Just doesn't guarantee you can use the item as intended. Full stop.

First Sale Doctrine.

You guys are kidding, right? Cause if you aren't, that's some of the most absurd stuff I've ever heard.

all i meant was that if the owner of said material (1st party companies) tells consumers to not resell, anyone who doesn't want to break the law should abide to these for instance the OP.

I was serious. To my knowledge, it is illegal to buy or sell a used carseat in the state of Alabama. To clarify, by "carseat" I am talking about the thing you strap a baby in. It's considered to be a safety issue, since you can't be sure a carseat has not been in an accident and because standards keep changing, or something like that. It's not really enforced, though, that I've seen.

That's the sort of nonsense I would expect from some place like MA, not AL. Oh well, if they want to kill the lucrative used car seat market, that's their business. Or rather, lack of business.

If you're talking about the Bible, which is where I'm coming from, it's not much an argument. The Bible says that you're supposed to follow the laws of the land unless those laws contradict what God has already said. And since I'm Christian, I try my best to do so.
There IS quite a bit of debate around just what exactly Romans 13 encompasses. I didn't even have to look up the book/chapter. I know it. :D

Anyway, there is NOTHING illegal where you live about buying those games. The legalities surround the companies that produced them. It has also been pointed out in this thread that Nintendo forcing those companies into the situation they were in was an illegal monopoly. So, if you take it to the extreme and don't buy Tengan games because of the way they were produced, then you might as well not buy any NES games.

For what it is worth from me, I don't believe you are coming even close to sinning by purchasing and using something like Tengen Tetris.

I didn't read past the first page of this thread, because I can guess where a lot of the posts are going. :D Maybe I should read it for some entertainment?

He just wanted to make sure he wasn't breaking the law. What's wrong about making sure something is legal?
Yep. Wanted to make sure it was legal. Personal decision as a Christian, and I'm quite happy with the life I'm leading.
I'm pretty sure always following the letter of the law is plain ol' bad theology. You might want to check into that more if you're serious about your religious beliefs.
