I personally think Nintendo started falling apart after they released the original Nintendo DS.

But I think the Wii was alright. You also have to consider that a lot of these critics have the "FPS Fratboy Bias." I can totally see where your coming from, in that the PS3/360 simply had more games. There's no two ways about that. But the Wii had a sense of colerfully charming quality that the PS3 and 360 simply do not have.

Games like Murumasa, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and No More Heroes aren't really replicated on the other two consoles. Its all really a matter of how you want your games.

EDIT: And the backwards compatibility. The Wii can play every Gamecube game, and some downloadable games from every Nintendo home console. Even Sega and the Neo-Geo were thrown into that mix. Sony and Microsoft have at this point, dropped all backwards compatibility. One could argue that the "PS1 Classics" section sort of counters this arguement, but thats one console versus the Wii's 7+.

I'm not saying any single console is "better." Its all a matter of how you want your games.

That list is pretty much why I think you're mistaking 'I personally do not like the Wii' with 'The Wii is a failure and here is concrete evidence why'.

That list just isn't very diverse. Other than Little Big Planet and Left 4 Dead it's just 3rd person adventure / action games for the most part. I think you like that particular type of gameplay (and nothing wrong with that whatsoever, we all have our own inclinations) and it just happens to be a genre that the Wii doesn't offer much of beyond No More Heroes, Madworld, and a few others.

Now for someone like me, I prefer cartoony, unrealistic games with lots of zany moments and arcade fun. So if we reverse our positions, I would make almost every statement you've made if I was to talk about the PS3 or Xbox 360.

Still, that doesn't mean that either of those systems is a failure. It just means that my preferences as a gamer are not met on either platform as your gaming inclinations are not met on the Wii.

Fortunately, as gamers we have NEVER before had so many choices. In this situation everyone is a winner.

It's my favorite exercise game. It's better than Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus and Shape Boxing 2. It's not only very fun to play, but it is a genuinely good workout for your entire body.

It uses double wiimotes and the balance wii board. There are a lot of options for what kind of workout you wanna do, along with the duration. Also the individual exercises and music are randomized, so it stays fresh and interesting.

The PS3, no matter the model, also supports original PS1 discs. There are also Neo Geo and Turbografx 16 games avaible on PSN. The Vita will play any downloaded PSP games and minis as well. So I wouldn't say they have dropped all support.

Xbox 360 still has backwards compatibilty with xbox games, though it is only through some rather poor software emulation and not all titles are supported. There are also xbox originals for sale on the store. And Game Room allows you to buy Arcade, Atari 2600, and Intellivision games. Sure microsoft have the weakest offerings of old games but again, support is still present.

It's all a matter of preference really. I own just about every damn console except a PS3(not because I don't support Sony or anything, still love my PS1&2) and a few other misc older consoles. I can find something I like about EVERY system I own that I love. I don't feel like the Wii is a failure at all. My wife and I get alot of entertainment out of it still, bottom line: it's fun! I find the graphics to be great, maybe not nealry as polished and spectacular as 360s or PS3s but still I like it. I don't have a large library of Wii games but the ones I do I have I love and there are games I still want like A Boy and his Blob, the new Zelda, etc. Sorry but my Wii will continue to sit proudly next to my 360, next to the PS2 with the original Xbox under it and a NES next to that in my entertainment center! :lol: :wink:
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

@flake

I understand your point of view, but the list I made was from NEW IPs only EXCLUSIVE games that are scoring 8+/10 score , and made sure they were not a sequel , just to avoid any arguements. For example, I left out GTA4 and Red Dead Redemption which are fantastic games, but since they are not NEW IP i left them out.

As for games being cartoony, trust me I feel games became too real to be fun(damn you Call of Duty),
but ps3 and 360 are not lacking on the cartoony games, here is a list:

-Braid , Viva Pinata, LBP, Modnation, Super Street fighter 4(i consider that cartoony),Limbo(adult cartoony?),Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, flower,prince of Persia (not sure if u consider this cartoony or realistic), Blaze Blue, Trine, PixelJunk, Lego Harry Potter, Sonic & Sega racing, castle crashers, Rocket Knight, Mega Man 10, Might & Magic, Swords and Soldiers, Eye of Judgement, Fat Princess, Penny Arcade Episode 2, Super Meat Boy,
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, DishWasher Vampire Smile, Kameo, Eternal Sonata, banjo-Kazooie : nuts and bolts, WWE All Stars....etc

Am not sure if those games are cartoony, arcade, and unrealistic enough for you...
you see on the ps3/360 you get realistic and cartoon, with the Wii you are pretty much stuck with the cartoony...and that is ok, but am not really convinced that the cartoony games on the Wii really beat the ones on the ps3/360...

Maybe I shouldn't use the word FAILURE since its too strong
maybe I should have said "disappointing" or "let down"
I feel most Wii games could have been done the gamecube anyway...no need
for the new hardware

but everyone has his own opinion I guess
I tried to like the Wii, I tried really hard, I tried to get my friends in it, I bought games...It just didnt work and I don't blame them. the only game that had a some fun in it was Mario Kart and that didnt last so long, we tried hard to play mario party but was too childish and NOT fun.

Outside the Nintendo IPs

@Inzuma

Ill get Boot Camp, seems interesting!

Being a "new IP" doesn't make a game unique or original. You can make a unique new gaming experience (Super Mario Galaxy, Kirby's Epic Yarn) while using on old IP, or you can make a million generic FPS and third-person-action games all with new IPs. It's meaningless.

Besides that, being a unique and original game is great, but it isn't a litmus test for whether it makes a console worthwhile.

Sweet! You have a way to play Japanese games? I dunno how well you understand Japanese but Billy himself only speaks English in the game, so you should be fine with minimal or even no Japanese skills. He will explain how to do each exercise in full native English so it's very easy to understand. There are some menus and options and stuff that are in Japanese but it's not too complicated. If you want, I can translate them for you.

Is there an English version of Billy's Boot Camp that I'm not aware of? It would be extremely easy to bring it out here, so they really should do it if they haven't already.

@kingmohd84

I would technically call RDR a new IP, because it is so far away from Red Dead Revolver that I wouldn't even classify them similarly besides being western....

Anyways, I really want a Wii seeing the games for it, but I think I'm going to hold out and see how the Wii U is, and if it's good I'll play Wii games on that.
Systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, Gamecube, Xbox 360

WTB: Boxes for a silver Gamecube System(and a hyperport cover), and a box for an Ice Blue N64 console. Will pay 7.50 for each and shipping.
